The St. Louis Blues have won their first game in the Edmonton bubble. The Blues beat the Canucks 3-2 in OT in Game 3 on Sunday to make the series 2-1 in favor of Vancouver.

There’s won’t be much recovery for the two teams, as Game 4 is scheduled for Monday at 10:30 pm EST. St. Louis has opened as -139 favorites in the Game 4 Canucks vs Blues odds.

Can the Blues carry the momentum into Game 4 or should you bet on the Canucks rebounding?

Canucks vs Blues Game 4 Odds

Team Moneyline Puckline Total at DraftKings
St. Louis Blues -139 -1.5 (+190) O 5.5 (-103)
Vancouver Canucks +120 +1.5 (-235) U 5.5 (-120)

Odds as of August 16th.

The Blues have been listed as the favorites for every game in this series thus far. They were -122 favorites for Game 3, while the Canucks were +106 underdogs.

Allen Takes Over For Binnington

The Blues made a change in goal prior to Game 3. With starter Jordan Binnington struggling in the first two games of the series, the team decided to go with backup Jake Allen for Game 3. Allen was sensational for the Blues on Sunday, stopping 39 of 41 shots to earn his first win of the postseason.

It was a bold move by coach Craig Berube to turn away from the goaltender that led them to the Stanley Cup in 2019, but it appears to have been the right call. Binnington hasn’t looked anything like himself in four starts this summer and may not see much more action in the Edmonton bubble.

Allen historically hasn’t played well against Vancouver in his career (.894 save percentage), but he owns a very solid .925 save percentage over his playoff career. The Canucks appeared to develop some great confidence going up against Binnington, so it’s not ideal they are now facing a new netminder.

Canucks’ Offense Slowed Down

After scoring an impressive 21 goals over their last five games, the Canucks were held to less than three goals in Game 3 for the first time since Game 1 against Minnesota. There’s not much reason for concern, however, as Vancouver put 41 shots on goal in the contest and were stymied by a great goaltending performance.

Elias Pettersson is proving to be a terrific playoff performer as he’s now scored in all three postseason contests against St. Louis, including potting his first 5-on-5 goal of the playoffs in Game 3. Quinn Hughes also extended his point streak to six games with an assist in the loss, as Vancouver’s young talent continues to prove they can score against this elite defensive club.

The Blues got goals from Justin Faulk, David Perron and Brayden Schenn in the Game 3 victory, but they were without Vladimir Tarasenko and Alex Steen, who were deemed unfit to play prior to puck drop. Considering how deep the Canucks are on offense, it will be significant if St. Louis doesn’t get these two key forwards back in this series.

Bet on Canucks Rebounding

The Canucks’ talent has been on full display through three games against St. Louis and they should bounce back in Game 4. Vancouver’s game is built on speed and skill, while the Blues play a more physical style that is aimed at wearing down opponents. The Canucks’ young talent should have no problem being energized for Game 4, while the veteran Blues may find it harder to play their usual game on very little rest.

With two potentially fatigued goaltenders, I’m also leaning towards the over in this game. It cashed in the first two games of the series and came very close to cashing in Game 3.

This has been a tightly played series, but I expect the Canucks to bounce back and take Game 4 to prevent St. Louis from evening things up. Vancouver has already scored six power-play goals in this series, but drew only two penalties in Game 3. They were visibly upset with the refs on Sunday and could get more opportunities to make St. Louis pay on Monday.

Pick: Vancouver Canucks Moneyline (+120)
