  • The Bruins are owners of the best record in the NHL through the first month of the season
  • All the Bruins vs Penguins odds can be seen below, plus our best bet and prediction

Anybody who thought the Boston Bruins best days were behind them is sorely mistaken. The Bruins are off to the best start in the NHL this season and they kick off a brand new month in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, November 1st when they visit Sidney Crosby and the Penguins.

Puck drop for this game is scheduled for 8:00 pm ET at PPG Paints Arena with ESPN carrying the broadcast nationally. Surprisingly, the Bruins are -105 road underdogs against a Penguins team that’s coming off a terrible Northwest road trip after a strong start.

Let’s take a peek at all the Bruins vs Penguins odds below and give you our pick and prediction for this contest.

Although oddsmakers have made the Penguins slight favorites, this is a pretty even matchup as reflected when looking at the moneyline odds. At -117, the Penguins have an implied win probability of 53.92%, but the Bruins with betting odds of -105 have a probability of 51.22% to emerge victorious.

Bruins Best Moneyline Bet in NHL

At 8-1-0, Boston has put the rest of the NHL on notice. If you’ve been putting bets on them on the moneyline this season, you’re laughing all the way to the bank as they have the best return on investment in the league at 71.13%.

What’s even more incredible about their hot start is that they did it almost entirely without the pesky Brad Marchand and number one defenseman, Charlie McAvoy. Both recovered quicker than expected with Marchand posting three points in his season debut last week, and McAvoy ditching his non-contact jersey in practice on Monday hinting that a return is near.

Watch for the Bruins to fly up the rankings in the Stanley Cup odds if they’re able to keep this level of play up. One important thing to note is that Boston has played most of its games on home ice this year. They’re a perfect 6-0-0 at home and 2-1-0 on the road so far.

Pittsburgh Penguins Betting Analysis

You can bet the Penguins are ecstatic to be back at home. They started the season 4-0-1 before embarking on a four-game road trip where they lost every single contest and were outscored 18-6. Included in those losses were defeats to the lowly Canucks and Kraken.

Pittsburgh seemed to be scoring at will in their first five games with Sidney Crosby lighting up the score sheet and perhaps making some people consider him as a pick in the Hart Trophy odds. However, they found the net just once in each of their last three games going under the total in each of them.

In three games at PPG Paints Arena this year, they’ve outscored their opponents 18-5 going 3-0-0. Clearly, home has been very sweet to the Pens, while the road has been unforgiving. Perhaps the impressive home record is why they’re still favorites against Boston in the Tuesday NHL odds.

Bruins vs Penguins Same-Game Parlay Picks

Pick Odds
Boston Bruins Puck Line +1.5 -265
Pittsburgh Penguins Moneyline -117
Jake Guentzel Anytime Goal Scorer +135
PARLAY ODDS  +800

Jake Guentzel notched a hat trick in the last meeting between these two squads last season and he also scored the Penguins lone marker in their 3-1 loss to the Kraken in their last game. Ride the hot hand and pick him to score in this one on a same-game parlay with the Bruins to cover the puck line, but the Pens to win on the moneyline.

Bruins vs Penguins Pick & Prediction

This has been a great rivalry over the past 15 or so seasons of the Crosby-Bergeron era for these teams. They’ve only met once in the playoffs during this period despite both teams being near the top of the conference standings every year for the last decade or so.

There’s not much to choose from between these two teams as they’ve each won five of the last 10 meetings with the Penguins taking the season series 2-1 last year.

Despite the fact that the teams have been going in opposite directions heading into this one, the prediction in the Bruins vs Penguins NHL odds for Tuesday is to take the Penguins to win at home.

The Bruins will likely keep it close, but the Penguins are desperate for a win after that awful road trip and we think that being back at home will give them a leg up on Boston.

Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins Moneyline (-117)
