Lightning Will Continue Dominance Against Panthers

The red-hot Tampa Bay Lightning will be searching for a seventh straight win when they face the Florida Panthers at BB&T Center on Thursday. The Bolts have scored at least four goals in all but one of their last six games and have covered the spread in five consecutive contests.

The Lightning have a great chance at extending their win streak facing a Panthers team that they’ve dominated over the last several years. Tampa Bay has won nine of their last 10 meetings with Florida and prevailed by a 6-1 score in their most recent clash last season.

Tampa Bay’s 10-game and 11-game winning streaks last season proved just how dominant this team can be when they get hot. They’re once again playing at that level right now and there’s value to be had with the puckline.

The Panthers are struggling to score right now, having been limited to just five goals in their last three contests. They’re also giving up over 30 shots per game and don’t have the shutdown defense to limit the Bolts’ high-powered offense.

Pick: Tampa Bay Lightning -1.5 (+150)

Hurricanes Will Hand Slumping Stars Another Loss

The Carolina Hurricanes and Dallas Stars begin a two-game set with a matchup at American Airlines Center on Thursday. The Stars are in the midst of a three-game losing streak and dropped both of their previous two games against the Canes this season.

Carolina is currently the top possession team in the NHL and appear to have developed a formula for beating this Stars team. The Hurricanes have taken five of the last seven meetings, including a 4-1 victory in January in which Dallas was limited to just 11 shots.

The Stars haven’t scored more than one goal in a game since a 4-3 loss to the Blue Jackets on Feb. 4. Part of those struggles is due to an injury to top-six winger Alex Radulov (day-to-day), who had exploded for 11 points in his first eight games. The team is also without superstar forward Tyler Seguin (hip surgery) until at least March.

While the Stars are struggling to find twine, the Canes have been getting production from all over their lineup. 11 different players have already scored for Carolina, as forwards such as Vincent Trocheck, Martin Necas, and Brock McGinn are providing solid depth scoring. Expect the Canes’ supporting pieces to be the difference as they continue their winning ways against Dallas.

Pick: Hurricanes Moneyline (-122)
