Red Wings Aiming to End Six Game Slide
The Detroit Red Wings have lost six games in a row and travel to face one of the league’s top teams. The Tampa Bay Lightning are listed as convincing favorites and for good reason. Despite losing superstar Nikita Kucherov long-term due to injury, they still have four players averaging more than a point per game. One of those players is defenseman Victor Hedman who is the favorite to win the Norris Trophy. On the flip side, newly minted captain Dylan Larkin is the only point per game player on the Red Wings.

The talent gap in goal is about as wide as it can be in this game. Andrei Vasilevskiy is sporting a 4-1-1 record and a 2.15 GAA for the Lightning. Thomas Greiss on the other hand is winless in seven starts for Detroit with an ugly 3.03 GAA and a .897 SV%. The Lightning are coming off a big 5-2 win over the Predators, so look for them to roll the Red Wings by at least two goals.

Bruins Top Line Will Be Key Versus Flyers
Bruins forward David Pastrnak returned from off-season hip surgery and has not missed a beat. He has two goals and one assist in two games. Linemates Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron have combined for 24 points in nine games, making the trio one of the scariest offensive units in the league. Boston won their last match up with Philadelphia 6-1, and that was before Pastrnak’s return from injury. These two teams have a combined three regulation losses in 19 games, so even the slightest edge could make a big difference.

The Flyers are narrow underdogs and that could be a result of a glaring issue between the pipes. Carter Hart is a stud against most teams in the league but has struggled mightily against the Bruins. He has allowed more goals against Boston than any other team in the league and will enter the game sporting a 3.31 GAA and .893 SV% in this matchup. Hart isn’t alone in struggling against the Bruins offense, it’s a problem many goalies face. That said, it’s a pretty big question mark heading into a matchup against a team that is red hot.
