The Seattle Kraken aim to extend their current win streak in home ice to three games when they host the slumping Calgary Flames in Wednesday night NHL action. The Kraken have been idle since dropping a 6-5 decision in Vancouver last Thursday night, but have limited opponents to four total goals during their current two-game home win streak. The Flames travel to Seattle after resuming their schedule with Tuesday’s 2-1 loss to the visiting Edmonton Oilers, but have claimed victory in three of their past four road contests.

Start time is set for 10:00pm ET at Climate Pledge Arena, with all the action televised on TNT and Sportsnet West.

Wednesday’s contest is pegged as a virtual pick ‘em in the NHL odds, with the Flames holding a slender edge as a -115 bet while the Kraken are pegged at -105, and the total is listed at 6.0.

Flames vs Kraken Recent History

Wednesday night’s matchup marks the second of three regular-season meetings between these Pacific Division rivals. The Kraken skated to a 5-4 victory when they visited Calgary back on November 1, which marked their first victory in five all-time clashes with the Flames. The total has reached 8.0 or higher in three of the five all-time dates between these teams, and the OVER is currently on a 2-0 run.

The Flames will be playing on back-to-back nights for the fifth time this season when they hit the ice on Friday. Calgary has posted just one win in the back half of games played on consecutive nights so far this season, and has lost six of eight since March.

Calgary Flames Betting Outlook

The Flames’ recent offensive woes continued in Tuesday night’s loss to the Oilers. Overall, Calgary shooters have been limited to two or fewer goals four times while compiling a middling 3-3-4 record over the past 10 games. However, they have enjoyed far greater success of late on the road, averaging four goals per game while winning three of their past six.

Despite that promising trend on the road, the Flames are in desperate need of greater offensive contributions from its biggest stars. Nazem Kadri has cooled off after opening December on a torrid pace, going pointless in three straight games, and has failed to find the back of the net in seven of eight outings. Jonathan Huberdeau has potted just two goals in 14 December appearances, while the team’s leading point-getter has scored just twice in his past 14 road outings.

After seeing Jacob Markstrom tend goal on Tuesday, the Flames are expected to turn to Dan Vladar between the pipes on Wednesday. Vladar has been lit up for nine total goals while leading the team to overtime losses on the road in his past two starts, and was also tagged for five goals when the Kraken visited the Saddledome earlier this season.

Seattle Kraken Betting Outlook

The Kraken has emerged as one of the surprise teams of the season after muscling their way into the Western Conference playoff picture with last month’s seven-game win streak. Seattle enters Wednesday’s action in control of third place in the Pacific, one point up on the Flames, but enjoy four games in hand. But while they have also tallied back-to-back wins on home ice, they represent the team’s lone consecutive victories during a current nine-game run that has featured six losses.

While the team has struggled to consistently generate wins, they certainly cannot blame their supporting cast. Indeed, it has been a journeyman trio that has provided the team with a spark during their current 2-0-1 run.

Daniel Sprong led the charge with a pair of goals in the Kraken’s 6-5 OT win in Vancouver and has scored three times over his past two games. And both Jared McCann and Ryan Donato have scored four times over the past five games. Conversely, leading scorer Andre Burakovsky has produced just one point in five games, and Jordan Eberle has bulged the twine just twice in 12 outings.

Flames vs Kraken Prediction

The Flames have demonstrated their ability to bust out of offensive slumps by filling in the net. However, with the Kraken enjoying steady goaltending and steady contributions from up and down the lineup, it is tough to overlook the Kraken’s attractive odds to extend their recent home success.

The Pick: Seattle Kraken ML (-105)
