VGK Heating Up Despite Injuries

Vegas has won three straight games despite missing several players due to injury. The Knights have beaten Colorado, Anaheim and Dallas with Mark Stone, Max Pacioretty and Alex Tuch all out of the lineup. VGK got more bad news Monday when it was announced William Karlsson will miss six weeks with a broken foot.

Vegas is coming off a solid 3-2 win over Anaheim in which every player on the team recorded at least one shot on goal. Chandler Stephenson and Nicolas Hague both had multi-point games, while Robin Lehner made 34 saves. They’ll look to keep the momentum going against a Toronto team they haven’t faced since 2019.

Vegas is riding a three-game winning streak despite not scoring a single power-play goal this season. Stephenson has been the team’s most reliable producer at even strength, recording four goals and nine points in eight games. Smith, Jonathan Marchessault and Nicolas Hague all have four points.

Leafs Lighting It Up Offensively

Toronto comes into Monday’s matchup with Vegas boasting one of the most dynamic offensive in the NHL. The Maple Leafs lead the NHL in scoring chances, yet are only averaging 2.33 goals per game. Toronto’s fortunes may be changing, however, as they exploded for six goals last time out vs Detroit.

Toronto has earned back-to-back victories over Chicago and Detroit after incurring a four-game losing streak. The big positive from their last game was that forward Mitch Marner scored his first goal of the season to end his slump. Goalie Petr Mrazek struggled, however, allowing five goals during a rest night for Jack Campbell.

Golden Knights vs Leafs Projected Starting Goalies

Team Goalie Record SV% GAA
Vegas Golden Knights Robin Lehner 3-4-0 .910 3.00
Toronto Maple Leafs Jack Campbell 3-2-1 .918 2.31

Campbell should be back in the crease against Vegas, which gives the Leafs a boost in the NHL odds. Toronto’s blueline still remains an issue, as they’ve give up 108 high-danger chances this season– fourth-most in the NHL. Justin Holl is expected to be healthy scratched for the second straight game against Vegas.

Golden Knights vs Leafs Pick & Prediction

Both the Maple Leafs and Golden Knights appear to be trending in the right direction after underwhelming starts to the season. The mounting injuries for Vegas are concerning, however, as four of their top five goal scorers from last season are injured. Vegas has faded to +900 in the Stanley Cup odds.

Jack Campbell getting the start for Toronto is the key to betting the Golden Knights vs Toronto odds. He’s been excellent this year and stole the show with 46 saves the last time he faced this Vegas powerhouse. With VGK missing so many offensive weapons, Campbell could be the difference maker again Tuesday.

Toronto’s big guns are heating up, with Tavares recording three points last game and Marner potting his first goal. The Golden Knights are allowing the third-most amount of shots in the NHL and won’t be able to shutdown this high-powered offense. The home team has also won five of six meetings in this series, which is a trend that should continue Tuesday.

Pick: Toronto Maple Leafs ML (-185)
