The Boston Bruins have won their first twelve games at home to begin the campaign, which sets an NHL record. They bested the 2021-22 Panthers and 1963-64 Blackhawks by winning one more game on home ice to begin the season. They’re up against a Tampa Bay Lightning squad that has been solid, if unspectacular, in their quest to make their fourth straight Stanley Cup final.

Tampa is 6-4-0 on the road, making the Bruins -170 home favorites. The Bruins emerged victorious eight days ago in Tampa, as they took it 5-3. Read on for Lightning vs Bruins analysis.

The B’s are the second choice in the Stanley Cup odds at +700. Tampa Bay is sixth, at +1400. Boston is -170 favorites in this contest that features a total of 6 goals.

Puck drop is set for 7:00 pm ET at TD Garden in Boston, MA with NESN and BSN providing the coverage in the United States and Sportsnet airing the broadcast in Canada.

Tampa Bay Lightning Betting Analysis

The Lightning had a rather inauspicious start to their season, going a pedestrian 7-6-1 in their first 14 contests. Since then, they’ve won six of seven duels, with the lone loss coming against Boston. In that span, they’ve averaged 4.57 goals per game (tops in the NHL), with a power play operating at a 44% clip (also first).

Before this run, they were just 18th in scoring. The Bolts have since moved up to seventh in goals/game. They’re a middle-of-the-road team in keeping pucks out of their net, ranking 16th. They do have the sixth-best PP, but again, are average on the PK, ranking 19th. That’s surprising given that they have arguably the best goalie in hockey the last several seasons in Andrei Vasilevskiy.

In ten of 15 starts on the season, the 2019 Vezina Trophy winner has given up at least three goals (two goals in four outings, one goal against in the other). He uncharacteristically has the highest GAA (2.94) and lowest save percentage (.905) of his career. That might be attributed to fatigue, given the fact Tampa has been in three straight Stanley Cup finals. He’s expected to start after backup Brian Elliott surrendered five goals to Buffalo on Monday.

Boston Bruins Betting Analysis

It’s hard to pick any holes in the Boston Bruins game, given that their 18-3-0 record (36 points) is second-best in the NHL to the New Jersey Devils. They’ve been especially dominant at home, going 12-0-0 to set an NHL record. They’ve outscored their opponents 48-20 at TD Garden. For the campaign, they’re tops in goals/game (4.00), second best in goals against/game (2.24), and they’re second on both the power play and the penalty kill.

Interestingly, David Pastrnak is fifth in the NHL in scoring with 32 points (14 goals, 18 assists), but no other Bruin has more than 19 points (Patrice Bergeron). The B’s have ten players with at least ten points.
