Avalanche Will Dominate Kings

The Avalanche have two regular-season games remaining as they continue their quest for the West Division title. Jared Bednar’s team sits two points back of the first-place Golden Knights with a game in hand. They’ll be hungry to conclude the regular season on a winning note and lock up first place in the division.

Colorado has won four straight games against Los Angeles, including a 3-2 victory on Saturday in which they outshot the Kings by a 30-18 margin. Nathan MacKinnon, Samuel Girard, and Brandon Saad all weren’t available for that game, but MacKinnon returned to the lineup Monday, and Girard is expected to be back Wednesday.

It might seem like Colorado won’t be too motivated in this final stretch, considering they’ve already locked down a playoff spot, but you have to consider what’s at stake. In this unique NHL postseason, the “final four” will be re-bracketed based on their regular-season points after the intra-divisional playoff rounds.

The Avalanche still have a shot at the Presidents’ Trophy and will bring their A-game Wednesday. They’ve won seven straight at home and have dominated the prior two meetings with LA despite them being one-goal games. The Kings have lost three straight and won’t have an answer for an explosive Colorado offense that just got MacKinnon back in the fold.

Pick: Avalanche -1.5 (-137)

Knights Will Extend Winning Streak vs Sharks

The Golden Knights will be looking to beat the Sharks for the ninth time in a row when the two teams clash at SAP Center on Wednesday. Vegas remains in the hunt for the West Division title and Presidents’ Trophy, while San Jose has been eliminated from playoff contention.

Much like with Colorado, Vegas is a team you want to bet on in this final stretch because they still have something to play for. Peter DeBoer’s club will finish as the NHL’s best regular-season team if they beat San Jose in their regular-season finale and Colorado loses one of its final two games.

Vegas has dominated the season series against San Jose because they are the better team in every area. The Golden Knights ranked top-10 in both offense and defense, while the Sharks rank in the bottom-10 for both categories. The Golden Knights are 7-3-0 in their past 10 games, while the Sharks are 3-5-2.

The Golden Knights want to enter the postseason on a winning note and should explode against a San Jose defense that has surrendered 10 goals in the past two games. In the last meeting on April 21st, Vegas won 5-2 and outshot San Jose by a 40-33 margin. Bet on more of the same to go down in Vegas’ final regular-season contest.

Pick: Golden Knights ML (-200)
