In their sophomore season in the NHL, the Seattle Kraken are turning heads, as they’ve started 7-4-2, which is good enough for second in the Pacific Division. The Nashville Predators, who are coming to town, have limped to a pedestrian 5-6-1 mark, which is sixth in the Central Division.

Seattle has been solid offensively, ranking ninth in goals per contest, whereas the Preds are struggling in that department, fifth worst in the NHL. The Kraken have won four straight and are -121 home favorites in this one.

Unsurprisingly, both teams see their Stanley Cup odds as being very long, with Nashville at +5000, and Seattle at +7000. The Kraken are -121 favorites in this contest that features a total of six goals.

Puck drop is set for 10:00 pm ET at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, WA with TNT providing the broadcast coverage in the States.

Nashville Predators Betting Analysis

After the Predators won their first two games in Prague, Czech Republic against the Sharks, they struggled mightily upon their return to North America. The Preds amassed a poor 0-4-1 stretch when they came back, but have since won three of their last five contests.

For the campaign, they actually have a positive 5-3-1 record against the Western Conference, compared to the East, where they dropped all three games in regulation. An inability to score was hurting the squad in the early going, but in their last five, they’ve registered at least three goals in four of them. The latest saw them erase a 3-0 hole against Vancouver, en route to a 4-3 shootout victory.

The Preds power play is operating as the fourth worst in hockey, though it’s showing signs of life. After registering just one PP marker in their first six games, they’ve lit the lamp with the man advantage six times in the last six contests. The penalty kill has been solid, ranking seventh in the NHL.

Goaltender Juuse Saros, who finished third in Vezina Trophy voting last year, has been less than stellar, with a .904 save percentage and 3.12 GAA. He’s expected to be between the pipes.

Seattle Kraken Betting Analysis

The Seattle Kraken have won four games in a row (and five of six), which is the longest winning streak in their brief two years in the National Hockey League. They haven’t had any problems scoring, putting up at least three markers in nine straight outings (and eleven of 13 games this season). That has them seventh in goals for, and also ninth on the power play.

The Kraken are getting contributions from several players too, with Jaden Schwartz and Andre Burakovsky heading up the team with ten points apiece. They have a whopping twelve players who have between seven or ten points, boasting a very balanced scoring attack.

Three of the four Kraken wins in their streak came on the road. It’s somewhat surprising that they’re 5-1-1 away from home but just 2-3-1 at Climate Pledge Arena, site of this contest. They’re also a far better hockey club against the East, going 3-1-0, compared to 4-3-2 versus Western Conference foes.

Of their goaltenders, presumptive starter turned backup Philipp Grubauer has a ghastly .860 save percentage, compared to a pedestrian .901 mark for Martin Jones, who is expected to play in this one.

1/25/2022 SEA 2 – NSH 4 NSH NSH Over
10/14/2021 NSH 3 – SEA 4 SEA SEA Over

In their three meetings last season, Seattle got the better of their foes, winning two of the three contests, with the over-goal total hitting in all three instances.

Predators vs Kraken Pick

With both these teams scoring a lot of goals recently, the over six total seems awfully tempting, especially with the Preds rediscovering their power play touch.

Predators vs Kraken Same-Game Parlay Picks

Pick Odds
Nashville Predators Moneyline +100
Over 6 Goals -118
PARLAY ODDS  +270

The Kraken aren’t as solid on home ice, and the Preds are the better team, despite them not displaying that in the first month of the campaign. Taking the road dog at plus money is the play here.

Pick: Nashville Predators Moneyline (+100), Over 6 goals (-118)
