The New York Rangers came into this season with high expectations given their run to the Eastern Conference Final last season. The Seattle Kraken, in just their second season of existence, however, were not expected to play as solidly as they have in the first two months of the NHL season. They both have nearly identical records, with Seattle 8-5-3, and the Broadway Blueshirts 8-6-3.

Seattle surprisingly has fared poorly on home ice, given their solid start to the campaign, making the Rangers -135 road favorites. Read on for Rangers vs Kraken analysis.

New York is the tenth choice in the Stanley Cup odds at +1600. Seattle is a huge longshot at +7000. The Rangers are -135 favorites in this contest that features a total of 6 goals.

Puck drop is set for 10:00 pm ET at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, WA with ESPN+, MSG and ROOT Sports providing the coverage.

New York Rangers Betting Analysis

The Rangers have been a very hard team to figure out this season, as they sit fourth in the Metropolitan Division. They won three of their first four, then dropped four straight, then won three in a row, then lost three in a row, before taking two of the last three.

They’re a pedestrian 18th in goals per game, and tenth in goals against per contest. Their special teams are in the upper half of the NHL, ranking tenth on both the power play and penalty kill.

The maddening inconsistency with the Rangers was on full display in their last three efforts – exploding for eight goals against Detroit, then potting just one in a losing effort to Nashville, then scoring four to beat Arizona. Interestingly, the under has hit in five of the Rangers last six contests following a victory.

Seattle Kraken Betting Analysis

The Seattle Kraken have had a dream start to their sophomore season, given the fact they were third worst in the NHL in their inaugural spin. They had their longest winning streak in team history at five games, all of which were against playoff teams last season.

It’s a small sample size, but following that streak, they’ve dropped their two most recent affairs, 1-0 to Minnesota and 3-2 in OT to Winnipeg. Those two games were at home, where the Kraken have struggled to a 3-4-2 clip compared to 5-1-1 on the road. The Kraken are 14th in goals per game and eleventh in goals against per contest. Their special teams are a tale of two squads, eighth on the PP, but 23rd on the PK.

Rangers vs Kraken Recent Results

Date Home-Away Moneyline Puck Line Total
1/30/2022 NYR 3 – SEA 2 NYR SEA Under
10/31/2021 SEA 1 – NYR 3 NYR NYR Under

Seattle has won six of their last seven against the East (3-1 this season), yet they haven’t gone over the game goal total in the last five times hitting the ice.

The Rangers have won both meetings between these two teams, with the under goal total hitting both times.

Rangers vs Kraken Pick

New York, as outlined, has been frustratingly inconsistent, though they’ve beaten Seattle both times last year. They certainly are the better hockey club, even if the records thus far wouldn’t indicate much separation.

Rangers vs Kraken Same-Game Parlay Picks

Pick Odds
Rangers Moneyline -135
Under 6 Goals -120
PARLAY ODDS  +250

The under goal total has also been bang on in Seattle’s last four home games. Expect a tight-checking affair with Seattle’s dream start fading further from memory.

Pick: New York Rangers Moneyline (-135), Under 6 goals (-120)
