The Golden Knights are the third choice in the Stanley Cup odds at +950. Ottawa is a huge longshot at +10000. Vegas is -230 favorites in this contest that features a total of 6.5 goals.

Puck drop is set for 10:00 pm ET at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV with TNT providing the coverage in the United States and TSN doing the broadcast in Canada.

Ottawa Senators Betting Analysis

Ottawa has really sagged following a promising 4-2-0 start. Since then, they’ve gone 2-9-1, though those two victories have occurred in the last five games (albeit against the Flyers and Sabres who were in the midst of their own losing skids). In each of their last two tilts, they lost 5-1 to New Jersey and former Senator Erik Karlsson’s Sharks.

Despite being the second-worst team points wise, Ottawa doesn’t have horrible overall stats. They’re 15th in goals per game and 13th on the power play. They’re slightly worse than middle of the pack on the PK (19th), but the goals against is the achilles heel (25th).

Ottawa boasts an impressive young forward core but their defense is leaky, outside of Thomas Chabot and Jake Sanderson. Offseason acquisition Cam Talbot has outperformed Anton Forsberg (2.79 GAA compared to 3.43).

Vegas Golden Knights Betting Analysis

The Vegas Golden Knights have had a dream start to the season, following their first postseason missed in franchise history. They’re six points better than any team in the West, with a sparkling 15-4-1 record. They’re fifth in both goals per game and goals allowed per contest. All this with slightly below-average power play and penalty kill (17th and 20th respectively).

Vegas hasn’t been as dominant as they were following their scorching nine-game winning streak. In the last five games, they’re 2-2-1, dropping games to St. Louis, San Jose and Edmonton. They’re paced by a finally healthy Jack Eichel, who has racked up 24 points in 20 games, good for the 12th most points in the NHL.
