The Ohio State Buckeyes has enjoyed a good two years run with head coach Urban Meyer, but for the fans it’s time to start thinking big and with the new College Football playoffs system, they have a new tool to get back to the Championship Game.

“Day 1, you pick a school to come coach at Ohio State or come to play at Ohio State, and I remind our staff all the time that no one forced you to come here,” Meyer said. “This is what this program is. There’s only a handful of them that you’re expected to win every game that you play, and you have to embrace that, and it’s not easy to embrace. It’s the same thing as a player. You came to Ohio State, and this is what it’s going to be. You’re not going to look up there one day and see (the stadium) half-empty. That doesn’t happen. There’s 107,000 that want to see you play very well, so we have an obligation.”

Meyer’s DNA is a winning one, but he’s tied to what his quarterback Braxton Miller does on the field.  Ohio State is listed +900 to win the 2014/2015 College Football Championship, and Miller is +500 to win the 2014 Heisman Trophy.

“If he makes the same strides he made year one to year two, year two to year three and this year, year four, he could have a great year,” Meyer said of Miller. “He’s not 100 percent, but he’s close. Young quarterbacks want to look at everything but the coverage because it’s so chaotic back there, but he’s getting better and better at that.”

The Buckeyes have won 24 games in the last two seasons; in 2013, they did it with the 5th best rushing offense, averaging 308.6 yards per game, and they scored 45.5 points per match, 3rd best in all College Football.

Running back Carlos Hyde, responsible for 1408 yards last season, averaging 7.7 yards per attempt and finding the end zone 14 times, is now with the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL; he’s the main asset Ohio State needs to replace on offense.

However, most people think the success of the program in 2014 will be entirely on what the defense can make on the field; entering this year, they have one of the solidest defensive bases in all College Football, but the Big Ten looks heavy for them to sweep it.
