Five days after Mexico gave Costa Rica one of its ugliest-most-recent home losses, both teams will play each other again in the Azteca stadium, this Tuesday at 9 PM ET for the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

Last Friday, Mexico step into La Sabana stadium and gave the ‘Ticos’ a performance to remember winning 2-0.  The ‘Aztecas’, played solid on defense, dominated the ball possession and never seems to be in any trouble despite they were the visiting team.

Costa Rica entered the game with too much respect for Mexico and never had a chance. Head coach Jorge Luis Pinto said his team never found a way to take the ball from Mexico, and despite they tried, his team was far away from the game he expected.

The Ticos are the only team that has ever beaten Mexico in an official match at the Azteca stadium, but that was exactly 11 years ago in a victory 2-1. Since then, the Costaricans have accumulated nothing but losses, and on Tuesday it could be another one.

Mexico’s bet may not be sexy, but it’s by far the smarter and easiest one to hit.  The respect and the differences between one squad to the other in pure football skills are enormous.

Also, consider the heavy air in the Mexico DF which is a factor that affects almost every team that visits the city.  Most of the players in Costa Riva haven’t even played in the Azteca stadium before, and they might not be ready, for the air, the crown, and especially Mexico’s ability to play offensive football.
