With just a couple days to go before France and South Korea kick off the 2019 Women’s World Cup (WWC) on Friday afternoon, oddsmakers have released a host of props for the tournament.

Total Tournament Goals Scored Odds

Total Odds
Over 145.5 Goals +120
Under 145.5 Goals -150

*All Odds taken June 5, 2019

In the history of the WWC there have been seven previous tournaments. Just 12 teams participated in 1991 and 1995, and with 26 total matches, 99 goals were scored each time.

16 teams participated in the next four tournaments, and in 32 matches the total goals scored were 123, 107, 111 and 86. The 2015 tournament saw 24 teams for the first time and with a total of 52 matches, 146 goals were scored.

The 2015 tournament saw 24 teams for the first time and with a total of 52 matches, 146 goals were scored.

No matter the amount of teams, the average scoring has declined over the years. In the first five tournaments the average goals per game were all well over three, while the past two tournaments saw 2.69 in 2011 and 2.81 in 2015.

The majority of matches in 2015 were relatively close. France beat Mexico 5-0 in the group stage, but after that the next most lopsided scores only included a German 10-0 win over Ivory Coast, a Swiss 10-1 win over Ecuador and a Cameroon 6-0 win over Ecuador as well.

While neither Ecuador or Ivory Coast are participating this year, there are four nations making their debuts in the tournament in Scotland, Chile, Argentina and South Africa. Seven nations playing are ranked outside the top 30 in FIFA rankings.

Pick: Over 145.5 Goals

Group Winner Odds

Group Odds
A +275
B +375
C +700
D +350
E +700
F +275

The favorites from this prop are Group A, which features host nation France, as well as Group F which features the defending champions USA. With oddsmakers currently offering the USA as +275 odds to win the tournament, if you like USA, you might as well bet Group F, which would at least include Sweden in your bet. However, 3-1 odds or slightly longer do still exist on the US if you shop around.

France are still +350 to win outright, so unless you like Norway’s chances, you may be better-served betting France on the outrights.

I believe the best value from this prop comes in Group D. In Group D you’ll get England and Japan (plus Scotland and Argentina). England are fourth-favorites at +650, while Japan are fifth-favorites at +1400. The Japanese were finalists in 2015 and winners in 2011.

Pick:  Group D

Winning Continent Odds

Yes Odds
Europe -150
Rest of the World +120

In the history of the tournament a European nation has hosted twice. Sweden hosted in 1995 with Norway winning. Germany hosted in 2011 with Japan winning. So home soil does not guarantee a win for the hosting continent.

A host nation has only won one time, back in 1999 (USA). However the Americans, despite winning a record three times, have never won on European soil.

The only teams to win a WWC have been USA (3), Germany (2) and Norway and Japan once each.

Three of the top five ranked nations are from Europe, while four of five betting favorites come from within the continent.

Pick: Europe

First-Time Winner Odds

Yes Odds
Yes -140
No +110

So few teams have won a Women’s World Cup, that the ‘Yes’ has to be considered a play. Teams like France, England, Netherlands and Australia are all among the top seven favorites. Should France knock out USA in a potential quarterfinals matchup, these odds would start to look decent.

However, any of those teams offer better value in their own right. If you think France will beat USA, bet France outright at +350.

Could there be a first-time winner? Yes. But at this price I’d bet the ‘No’ or skip it.

Pick: No

Odds Any Team Will Fail to Score

Result Odds
Yes -115
No -115

24 teams participated in 2015 and each of them found the back of the net at least once. In fact, almost everyone scored at least twice. Only Ecuador had a miserable one goal scored compared to 17 allowed.

With four teams making their debuts this year and several European teams likely feeling the “home” advantage, I’ll bet on at least one team getting shutout.

Pick: Yes

Odds Any Player Will Take Her Shirt Off

Yes Odds
Yes +350
No -500

Ok, now we get into a few of the more “silly” props, betting on whether or not a player will take her shirt off during a match. It’s happened before. The men do it all the time. Why should the women be any different.

I like the value on betting the ‘Yes’.

Pick: Yes

Odds Zach Ertz Will Attend a Match

Yes Odds
Yes -3300
No +1200

One of sport’s power couples, Philadelphia Eagles’ TE Zach Ertz and Team USA midfielder Julie, have been married since 2017. You can’t not watch the video below and not see how cute these guys are. He’s going.

It’s the Eagles’ offseason and it’s already reported he’ll be in France. Frankly I’m surprised this prop is even still open. I’m sure limits are low but bet the max.

Pick: Yes

Pitch Invader Odds

Yes Odds
Yes +150
No -180

Think because it’s a big event there can’t be a pitch invader? Well we just saw one at the UCL Final this past weekend between Liverpool and Tottenham. While it was a staged prank, it happened.

Is it too much to think someone enjoys their Euro trip a little too much this summer and takes to the pitch?

Pick: Yes
