CSyD Atlas vs Pumas UNAM Betting Trends

Sunday night’s matchup marks the fourth meeting between these two clubs this year. Low scoring has been commonplace, with Atlas’ 1-0 victory on Thursday night marking the first time either of these clubs has found the back of the net in their past three clashes.

The win also marked the Zorros’ first over Pumas in eight dates across all competitions since the 2019 Copa MX, and their first in the league play since July 2017. Atlas have also fallen to defeat in each of their past three home dates with Pumas, while getting outscored by a wide 7-2 margin in those three losses. In addition, Atlas has managed to pot more than a single goal just once in their past 10 overall head-to-head contests.

CSyD Atlas Outlook

The stingy play that has highlighted the Zorros march to the Apertura semi-finals continued on Thursday night. With their 1-0 win, the club has now surrendered just two total goals during a steady 2-2-0 win-draw-loss run, extending an impressive run that left them knotted with Club America as the toughest team to score against during the Apertura season.

While it will take a total collapse for Atlas not to advance to the final, the club still faces the challenge of overcoming a recent middling run on home turf. The Zorros have tallied just one victory in their past five home dates while getting shut out on three occasions during that stretch. However, they have shown signs of turning the tables while avoiding defeat in their past two outings.

For the second time in as many outings, Julio Furch emerged as the hero. The veteran forward lifted Atlas to victory with the only goal scored on Thursday night. The club’s leading goalscorer has now bulged the twine on four occasions over the club’s past six outings and leads the way as a +155 bet to score anytime on Sunday night.

Pumas UNAM Outlook

With no away goals rule in effect, and tiebreakers favoring the club that finished higher on the Apertura table, nothing short of an epic offensive performance is likely to preserve Pumas’ hopes of advancing to the Apertura final. However, consider their recent performances on the road, this club could be up to the challenge.

While Pumas have struggled to generate offense on home turf, they have filled the net in recent road contests. The club has scored eight total goals during a 3-1-0 run on the road, capped by a dominating 3-1 win over Club America last weekend that propelled them into the semi-final.

Washington Corozo was the hero of last weekend’s victory, scoring twice including the match-winner. A resurgence by the club’s leading goalscorer Juan Ignacio Dinenno would provide Pumas with a big boost. Dinenno has yet to score in these Apertura playoffs, but has racked up four total goals over the club’s past eight road contests, and is listed as a +220 bet to score anytime on Sunday.

The Pick: BTTS (+108); OVER 2.5 (+125)
