  • This Saturday, June 27th, Borussia Dortmund host Hoffenheim in the last round of Bundesliga play this season
  • Dortmund are locked into second place, while Hoffenheim could clinch Europa League play with a victory and Wolfsburg slip up
  • Currently, the favorites are Borussia Dortmund with moneyline odds of -133

This weekend the Bundesliga is coming to a close with Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim as the kickoff match for the weekend. Hoffenheim will be traveling to the Signal Iduna Park with hopes of qualifying for the Europa League next season. Alfred Schreuder’s side can manage to do so with a victory or draw if Wolfsburg also drop points in their match against Bayern Munich, which is highly likely.

The two sides previously met in December in a game which turned out to be an enthralling contest. Mario Gotze gave the black and yellow an early lead. However, two goals in the last ten minutes saw Hoffenheim run away with three points at their home stadium.

Dortmund Rotation Could Change the Scoreline

Aside from the reverse fixture, Dortmund do have an edge over Hoffenheim. Their attack has more goalscoring potential, and they generally like to control a lot of the ball. However, what makes this game interesting from a betting perspective is the rotation that Lucien Favre’s squad will see. It is the last game of the season, and Dortmund can neither go up or down.

Now would be the time to play squad players and prospects alike. Expect players like Giovanni Reyna, Emre Can, and others who do not get regular minutes to get a spot in the starting eleven on Saturday. Favre did play a full-strength team against Leipzig last Saturday but left English winger Jadon Sancho on the bench. If this happens again, the total goal count could be driven down, or even give Hoffenheim the edge.

Hoffenheim Taking Big Strides Since the Restart

Since the restart, both teams have been in quite fine form. Dortmund have lost two games to Bayern Munich and Mainz, while Hoffenheim have only dropped points to Leipzig and Dusseldorf. They have been led by Andrej Kramaric and Christoph Baumgartner who have combined for 15 goals during this year’s campaign. Expect one of the two to score this weekend against a weaker, and probably less motivated defense.

Hoffenheim has something to fight for here, and the saying is a hungry dog always runs faster. The Europa League is no joke, and with Wolfsburg playing Bayern, there is more than a chance of qualification. Sure, some Dortmund players will want to impress Favre with a run-in and show him why they should be playing next year, but it simply is not the same.

Best Bet

With that being said, the best bet for this match is to be risky and go with the underdog Hoffenheim, with a moneyline of +300. This bet obviously has tremendous value but is sneakily one of the best picks for this weekend. Dortmund has no reason to play a full-strength team, and Hoffenheim has everything to play for. The last match actually favored the boys in blue, and they have been on an absolute tear to finish the season. This pick is very bold, but it is the right one for the last week of the Bundesliga.

My Pick: Hoffenheim moneyline (+300)
