Wins Scarce for La Roja
It has been a tough two years for Chile since their last trip to the Copa America. La Roja have picked up the win in just four of their past 17 matches across all competitions. They’ve seen those woes extended at this tournament, where their lone victory in four matches came against lowly Bolivia. The club also has plenty of work to do after suffering a disappointing 2-0 loss to Paraguay in last week’s group stage finale.
Chile dominated in possession in that contest, but failed to convert that into scoring opportunities. They were outshot by a 7-5 margin and putting just one shot on target.
Paraguay beats Chile 2 – 0 with 31% of possessionn and less than half the amount of passes. They let Paraguay dictate terms with defensive football and disgraceful play acting. Chile no creativity, no passion. Time for the golden generation to step aside #ChileVsParaguay

Indeed, generating offense has been a real problem for Chile during their prolonged swoon. The squad has found the back of the net just five times over their past six outings in all competitions. Those concerns have been further complicated at this tournament by the absence of forward Alexis Sanchez, who missed the entire group stage while recovering from a muscle injury.
Sanchez Set to Return
The good news comes from reports that Sanchez is traveling with the team to Rio, and is expected to be available for Saturday’s contest. The 32-year-old has played a key role for Chile in recent World Cup qualifying, scoring three times over his past six contests. He is pegged as an attractive +410 bet to score at anytime in his return to the pitch on Saturday.

The other upside for La Roja has been their steady defensive play. Last week’s loss to Paraguay marks the first time in seven matches that they have allowed more than a single goal. However, the question now is whether they can maintain that stingy level of play against a potent Brazilian attack.

Brazil Dominating on the International Stage
Already assured of top spot on the Group B table after opening the tournament with three straight wins, Brazil closed out the group stage with an uninspired 1-1 draw with Ecuador. That marked the end of an impressive 10-match win streak in all competitions. During that stretch, the Seleção outscored opponents by a 28-3 overall margin while keeping clean sheets on eight occasions.

Brazil have also been simply dominant at this tournament since making an embarrassing early exit in the group stage back in 2016. The Seleção are undefeated in 10 tournament matches since, and have suffered just one total defeat in their past 15 match appearances at major international tournaments.
Distributed Attack Paying Dividends
Brazil have performed as expected offensively so far at the Copa America, potting 10 total goals through their first four matches. More importantly, that production has come from across the lineup, with nine different players getting on the scoresheet.

🥇 Most assists (2)
🥇 Most big chances created (7)

Neymar Jr. is the sole exception. The superstar striker potted a goal in each of Brazil’s first two group stage contests, but was held off the scoresheet in the squad’s narrow 2-1 win over Colombia and last week’s draw with Ecuador. Neymar has also failed to score in each of his past four match appearances against Chile, but sports attractive -114 odds of finding the back of the net on Saturday night.
The Picks: Brazil -1.5 (+116); Neymar Jr. to score anytime (-114)
