With just seven fixtures left in the term, every single one is very important currently. For Everton, their top-six ambitions are slowly drifting, especially if they can’t find a result on Matchday 31 against Brighton on Monday, April 12, kick-off 3:15 PM EST.

The Seagulls do have a solid track record on home soil with Everton, going unbeaten in their last three meetings. The reverse fixture back in October resulted in a  4-2 victory for the Toffees at Goodison at the tail end of a seven-match winning run to begin the campaign.

Brighton Looking to Play Spoiler

Graham Potter’s side is currently in 16th spot and a whole six points clear of the relegation zone. Better yet, Brighton also has two games in hand over Fulham, who are in 18th.

Last time out, the Seagulls actually played relatively well against a high-flying Manchester United side. Danny Welbeck bagged the opener within the first 15 minutes, but the Red Devils equalized not long after the second half began. Ultimately, Brighton conceded Mason Greenwood’s winner in the 83rd minute, but it was definitely a respectable performance.

Potter’s men are just 2-0-3 in their last five appearances, but before the United defeat, the Seagulls did win two straight vs. Southampton and Newcastle.

Brighton’s improved form at the Amex goes a lot further than only against Everton. The side has picked up two wins out of five on home turf and previously secured the same number of victories in 23 appearances at their home stadium. It’s still not great, but it’s an improvement for the Seagulls.

If they’re able to pick up three points in this Everton clash, it would be the first time since November of 2019 where Brighton secure back-to-back victories at the Amex. However, playing on Mondays has not been in their favor, going winless in nine fixtures.

But, this is a clear-cut opportunity to upset the cart. Matchday 32 sees them meet Chelsea, who is also fighting for their European lives. Brighton can play the ultimate spoiler in these next two games.

Tough Schedule Ahead For Toffees

A spot in the Europa League for next season is going to take a valiant effort from the entire side. Everton has been handed a tough list of fixtures after Monday, with Tottenham, Arsenal, Aston Villa, and West Ham all ahead.

They’ll need to get their act together quickly though, having suffered three-straight defeats before a draw with Crystal Palace on Matchday 30. It was a victory the Toffees let slip through their hands. James Rodriguez scored a cracker of a goal in the 56th minute, but Everton allowed Palace substitute Michy Batshuayi to equalize with just minutes left in the second period.

At this point, Carlo Ancelotti’s men need a victory. It’s that simple. The Merseysiders haven’t won since March 4th, in a less than convincing 1-0 result over West Brom. They’ve also scored just three goals in their previous five appearances, lacking the attacking flair that’s been present at times.

Frontman Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who’s netted 14 times this term, has struggled lately, scoring just two goals in a span of seven games. His production in the final third will play a crucial part in where Everton ends up by the end of May.

On a more positive note, the Toffees had gone on a nine-match unbeaten run away from Goodison before a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Thomas Tuchel’s Blues in early March. They’ve clearly played better on the road and this will be a chance to collect a vital three points before a difficult span of games.

I have to take Everton here. They’re destined to find their form sooner rather than later, and right now is the time to do so. The Toffees have shown the ability to beat top sides this term and with their European dreams at stake, Ancelotti’s squad will rise to the occasion against Brighton.

Take the visitors to grab an important three points and also, expect Dominic Calvert-Lewin to break out of his cold spell in front of goal.

Pick: Everton +230, Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Score (+200)
