Eintracht Frankfurt vs Union Berlin Prediction

This Bundesliga Matchday 26 match will have major implications for both sides in their hunt for a European placing by the end of the term.

Frankfurt currently sits in the fourth and final Champions League spot, but Dortmund is right on their shirttails, just two points behind. Eintracht could certainly take positives away from last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Leipzig, with Daichi Kamada scoring an equalizer in the 61st minute.

However, Adi Hutter’s men haven’t won in three weeks, suffering defeat against Werder on Matchday 23 and drawing their previous two fixtures. A victory here is much-needed, especially with two massive clashes ahead against BVB and Wolfsburg which may hurt their top-four aspirations.

Union Berlin is in decent form currently, going unbeaten in their last five appearances with a 2-3-0 record. Last Saturday saw them bag two goals in the second half to overcome an early 1-0 deficit at home against FC Koln. Max Kruse equalized from the spot in the 48th minute, then Christopher Trimmel put them ahead for good just 20 minutes later.

This has been a fantastic season for Berlin to this point, while boasting one of the finest backlines in the Bundesliga, conceding just 27 times. Just two points off sixth place Leverkusen, a Europa League spot is a serious reality for this side if they continue to play great football.

Frankfurt has no problem scoring against their Matchday 26 counterparts, bagging 24 goals in just 10 meetings with Union. I really like how the visitors have been playing, but Eintracht seems like a good bet here. The frontline has struggled to score lately, especially leading goal-getter Andre Silva. With such a prolific record in the final third against Berlin, the hosts should continue their dominance.

Pick: Frankfurt -117, Under 3.5 Goals (-275)

Werder Bremen vs Wolfsburg Prediction

Werder Bremen hosts Wolfsburg on Saturday in Bundesliga Matchday 26 as they look to play spoiler. Bremen are currently sitting in 12th place, coming off a defeat to Bayern on Matchday 25. From a possession standpoint, it wasn’t an awful performance, but the champions’ attack was far too much to handle for Florian Kohfeldt’s side.

They have enjoyed a relative amount of success when playing host to the Wolves though. Prior to last June’s defeat, Werder won four straight matches at Weserstadion against Wolfsburg. With a 2-1-2 record in their last five games, a positive result here would be massive for the hosts.

Wolfsburg has been one of the biggest surprises of Germany this term, currently holding down third spot. They ran riot on relegation-threatened Schalke last weekend, with Wout Weghorst bagging a goal and providing two assists. The Dutchman has been tremendous for his squad, netting 16 times already.

Wolfsburg has been lethal in the final third vs Werder Bremen. They’ve scored more goals against them (84) than any other team in the Bundesliga. The Wolves also haven’t beaten any other outfit in the league on the road more than Werder, either, with 10 victories.

Oliver Glasner’s men have conceded just once in their previous nine domestic fixtures and I expect them to continue that trend. Bremen has their struggles scoring, therefore Werder should keep another clean sheet on Saturday. Expect them to also continue their brilliance on the attack, winning by two goals.

Pick: Wolfsburg 2-0 (+700), Under 2.5 Goals (-132)

SC Freiburg vs Augsburg Prediction

Two teams hovering around the middle of the pack meet on Sunday in Bundesliga Matchday 26. Freiburg is currently in ninth spot, but their form has been dwindling lately. Christian Streich’s men have won just once in their last five games, losing three times in the process.

A disappointing 1-0 defeat to bottom of the table Mainz on Matchday 25 was certainly a step in the wrong direction. Freiburg failed to muster up any legitimate opportunities, registering just two shots on target.

Mainz midfielder Robin Quaison scored a late winner with just minutes to go in the second half to help his side secure the points. On a more positive note though, Freiburg has tasted defeat just once in 10 previous clashes with Augsburg, which could be a sign of something better to come this weekend.

The visitors will definitely be carrying some momentum into this match, having buried Monchengladbach 3-1 last Friday. Augsburg was outplayed on the ball, but they capitalized on their chances in clinical fashion.

Currently just five points off Freiburg, a victory here could potentially move them a step closer to the top half. Considering their history against them, however, it could be a difficult task.

Freiburg has suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time this year. Given their track record against FC Augsburg, they would seem like a clear favorite. But, I’m going with a draw, where both sides get on the scoresheet.

Pick: Draw +255, Both Teams to Score (-124)
