It’s another weekend of German Bundesliga action with plenty still to be decided in the final five rounds. While Bayern Munich may have all but wrapped up the title, there are still plenty of teams fighting hard for European placings and to avoid relegation.

As has been the case since the Bundesliga returned, “home” advantage has continued to be no advantage, so bet a home team at your own peril. Last weekend only three games saw a home team win, bringing home team records to 8-10-18. You can add one more win for road teams as well, as Wednesday’s Round 24 makeup game also went to the away side when Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Werder Bremen 3-0.

Let’s jump ahead, check out this weekend’s card and isolate some best bets below.

All odds taken Jun. 4

Pick 1: Bayer Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich

What should be the highlight match of the weekend, first-place Bayern Munich travel to BayArena to face fifth-place Bayer Leverkusen at 9:30 am EST Saturday morning.

It’s an important match for both sides as Bayern look to maintain their lead atop the table, while Leverkusen are locked into a heated race for a Top 4 finish.

After a Matchday 28 win over their closest challengers Dortmund, Bayern refused to ease up on the weekend as they ran Fortuna Dusseldorf off the pitch in a 5-0 win. Bayern has been near-perfect since the restart with four wins while outscoring their opponents 13-2. Overall, across all competitions, they’re undefeated in 19 matches, 17 of those being wins.

Their last defeat came back in December, a 2-1 loss to Gladbach, which was part of a two-game skid which also saw them lose 2-1 to this weekend’s opponent as well.

On Matchday 13, Leverkusen were paced by two first-half goals from Leon Bailey to defeat Bayern 2-1. It was Leverkusen’s second-straight win over the German giants.

Bailey has just five goals on the season and none since the restart but is still getting inquiries from top teams around Europe. However, Leverkusen have one of the strongest attacks in the division with 54 goals in 29 matches. Kai Havertz has hit a purple patch since the league restarted with now five goals in four matches including the winner in Leverkusen’s 1-0 win over Freiburg last week.

Leverkusen have scored in 13 consecutive league matches, scoring multiple times in eight games.

They have though conceded 36 and will be hard-pressed to keep Bayern’s 86-goal offense off the scoresheet.

In fact, keeping either of these explosive offenses off the scoresheet may be a tall order if history tells us anything. Both teams have scored in each of the past six meetings between these sides in either the league or Cup tournament. Those scorelines have read: 2-1, 3-1, 3-1, 6-2, 3-1 and 3-1. Bayern have won four of those six meetings.

Bayern Munich looks like a well-oiled machine right now. Though Leverkusen are plenty capable, especially offensively and should contribute to the scoresheet.

Pick: Bayern Munich win & BTTS Yes (+130)

Pick 2: Eintracht Frankfurt vs Mainz 05

The mid-week play saw Eintracht Frankfurt travel to Werder Bremen in what was a game in hand for both sides to be made up from Round 24. Frankfurt scored three second-half goals to take a 3-0 win and move up to 11th in the table.

On Saturday, Frankfurt will host 15th-placed Mainz at 9:30 am EST.

Despite beginning the restart just above the relegation places and coming out of the break with 3-1 and 5-1 defeats, Eintracht now has seven points in three games and back-to-back wins which should be enough to see them to safety.

Mainz sits just above the relegation zone, one point up on Dusseldorf, but are making a strong case as a value bet for relegation since they resumed play. Mainz drew 2-2 with Cologne, fell 5-0 to Leipzig, drew 1-1 with Union Berlin and fell 1-0 to Hoffenheim so far.

Frankfurt games going OVER 2.5 have been money of late, with 13/14 games seeing at least three goals scored. Mainz are not high-scorers themselves, but as we saw on Wednesday, Frankfurt could hit that total themselves. They’ve now scored multiple goals in four of their five games since the restart.

However, Mainz has found some success vs Frankfurt of late, scoring two goals in three-straight meetings—a 2-2 draw and 2-1 win last season, plus a 2-1 win earlier this season in December.

Pick: Eintracht Frankfurt to score OVER 1.5 goals (-145)

Pick 3: Borussia Dortmund vs Hertha Berlin

The Saturday afternoon match sees second-place Borussia Dortmund hosting ninth-place Hertha Berlin at 12:30 pm EST.

While Dortmund saw their title hopes evaporate with a Matchday 28 loss to Bayern Munich, and their star striker Erling Haaland suffer a knee injury, they bounced back in Matchday 29.

In what could have been a letdown spot against bottom-side Paderborn, the teams did enter halftime in a scoreless draw. However, led by a second-half hat-trick by Jadon Sancho, Dortmund exploded for six goals to rout Paderborn 6-1.

Outside of Bayern who have collected 12 points since the return of the league, no team is hotter than Bruno Labbadia’s Hertha. The Old Lady, as they’re known, have three wins and a draw since the restart and now find themselves just four points back of European placings.

Not only have they been collecting points, but they’ve been doing so in tantalizing fashion having scored 11 goals, while only conceding twice. The two allowed came against top-five side Leipzig, and expecting them not to concede vs Dortmund would be unwise.

Hertha’s last match was a close 2-0 win over Augsburg last weekend where they scored 23 minutes in and held onto that lead the rest of the way until scoring an insurance marker in the 93′ minute.

If we look back over the past few seasons, dating back to the 2016/17 year, only one time have both teams not scored in this fixture. That includes seven league meetings and once in the Pokal.

The past three have all seen both teams on the scoresheet, as well as OVER 2.5 totals cashing. Earlier this season Dortmund traveled to Olympiastadion Berlin on Matchday 13 and left as 2-1 victors. Dortmund got on the board early with goals from Jadon Sancho and Thorgan Hazard within 17 minutes, but Hertha would cut the lead to one before half with a Vladimir Darida goal. Though Hertha only managed three shots on target, they did hold the advantage in attempts at 13-7.

Both teams are in fine scoring form and anything other than plenty of goals would be a surprise.

Pick: BTTS & Over 2.5 (-120)

Pick 4: Werder Bremen vs Wolfsburg

I’ve typically been making three picks each week for this column but I like a few matches on this card and want to include another. Let’s include one from Sunday morning at 7:30 am with Werder Bremen hosting Wolfsburg.

It’s a game with teams at opposite ends of the table, Bremen in 17th and Wolfsburg in sixth. Each have plenty to play for with Wolfsburg tied with Hoffenheim for the final Europa League spot and Bremen two points adrift of the relegation playoff spot and three away from safety.

Oddly, both sides are coming off recent defeats to the resurgent Eintracht Frankfurt. Wolfsburg were drawn with Frankfurt 1-1 last Saturday until a late 85′ minute winner by Frankfurt.

Bremen’s brief resurgence since the restart saw them collect points in three of four matches, but on Wednesday’s makeup match from Round 24, they were defeated 3-0 by that same Eintracht side. Though, the score did sit a 1-0 until two late goals in the 81′ and 90′ minutes.

Bremen were 3-2 winners earlier this season against The Wolves and in fact have quite an impressive run of recent results against them. Bremen are undefeated in eight previous league meetings, having won in six of those matches. This matchup usually presents plenty of goals with BTTS cashing in seven of those matches and OVER 2.5 hitting in five. In fact, OVER 2.5 has now cashed in 13/17 Bundesliga meetings.

For this match though, I lean towards bucking those trends. Werder Bremen have scored just three goals in their five games since the restart. Wolfsburg have scored seven in four, yet four of those goals came in one match.

The fact that I can still get plus-money on the better team Wolfsburg, playing against a side with no home support and playing with short rest, looks like great value. Wolfsburg moneyline (+105) is good enough value on its own, but Wolfsburg & UNDER 3.5 total goals at +187 could also bump up your payout.

Pick: Wolfsburg win (+105)
