  • In the ninth round of Bundesliga fixtures for the 2020/21 season, there will be nine matches played over the weekend as the middle of the table looks to switch things up
  • Eleventh to sixth place are currently only separated by three points, while Bayern, Dortmund, Leverkusen and Leipzig are within two points at the top of the table
  • League leaders Bayern Munich will be tested by Stuttgart on Saturday while Werder Bremen looks to climb the table against Wolfsburg

The Bundesliga season is shaping up as its usual self only eight games into the new campaign. Bayern Munich are in first place with Dortmund trailing eagerly behind. Meanwhile, a few teams are in contention to fight for the European qualifying spots in Germany’s top flight. Nonetheless, this weekend is crucial with a lot of mid-table teams facing off against one another.

Currently, Frankfurt, Augsburg, Werder Bremen and Stuttgart are level on points in the middle of the pack. Stuttgart have to play Bayern Munich which is quite a tall task. However, Werder Bremen plays sixth place Wolfsburg who are only three points ahead of them.

Additionally, Frankfurt is playing Berlin who are only four points in front of them in fifth place. This is the sort of early-season competition we love to see and frankly, the Bundesliga table could look totally different on Monday morning with this set of fixtures.

Bundesliga Pick #1: Wolfsburg vs Werder Bremen

The first highlighted match of the weekend is between Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen on Friday night. Firstly, these two teams have some very odd trends going their way. Wolfsburg are one of two sides that has not lost a game in the Bundesliga this year. Meanwhile, Werder Bremen have drawn their last five Bundesliga matches, all by a score of 1-1 which seems impossible.

Competitively, these sides have both won one and drawn one against each other in the past year which makes it tough to call one way or the other. What we do know for certain is that Wolfsburg has conceded the least amount of goals in the league with five in eight games. Picking a straight draw seems a little risky which is why you should pick the ‘Under’ on 2.5 total goals given the stalemate form Bremen has been in as of late.

My Pick: Under 2.5 total goals (+108)

Bundesliga Pick #2: Stuttgart vs Bayern Munich

This match is not about who is going to win unfortunately. Instead, it is about how bad Bayern Munich can win and who is going to be scoring the goals. It is hard to imagine, but this Bayern team continues to get better and better with time.

Despite a draw against Werder Bremen last week, they have been absolutely cruising through tough opposition. Frankfurt, Salzburg, Dortmund, you name it, it just seems easy for Lewandowski and company at the moment. The only way to really make money in this match is by betting on the spread. I do not see Bayern embarrassing Stuttgart, but I do think they win handily.

My Pick: Bayern Munich -1.5 (-125)

Bundesliga Pick #3: Union Berlin vs Frankfurt

The final match to bet on this weekend in the Bundesliga is between Union Berlin and Frankfurt. Union Berlin looks to be improved from last season as they sit just outside the top four, in fifth place. Frankfurt is in 11th but could easily sneak up to seventh place with a victory. Truly, Frankfurt are not a bad side either as they have only lost once.

However, Union Berlin has won three games in a row in the Bundesliga against Hoffenheim, Bielefeld and FC Koln which shows the positive form they are in. Max Kruse is on fire with four goals and five assists to start the year and the team looks to be trending upwards. The moneyline odds for this game are fantastic, and Union Berlin is the smart pick through and through.

My Pick: Union Berlin moneyline (+150)
