This is the only factor separating the teams as both have an identical goal difference of plus three.

Both Costa Rica and Jamaica are already qualified for the quarterfinals.

However, neither has won the competition in its current format.

Jamaica was Runner-Up in 2015 and 2017

Jamaica was the runner-up in 2015 and 2017 while Costa Rica claimed the second spot in 2002.

The Costa Ricans, furthermore, were three times winners of the tournament’s previous incarnation as the CONCACAF Championships – with the change to the Gold Cup coming in 1991.

This will be the toughest fixture in Group C for both teams.

Previously, both teams have recorded victories over the minnow nations Guadeloupe and Suriname – although, at times, there were more difficulties than expected.

Now, at this time, DraftKings prices Costa Rica as the favorite for a win against the Jamaicans at +125.

Jamaica, meanwhile, is rated at +235 with the draw priced at +230.

Francisco Calvo will be suspended after being dismissed in Costa Rica’s game against Suriname.

In light of the fact that this could be a tight game with a good last eight pairing at stake, the draw looks to be the value choice here.

At the Exploria Stadium in Orlando, the game kicks off at 7:00 pm ET.

Francisco Calvo, Costa Rica’s defender from MLS team Chicago Fire, will be suspended after being dismissed in the game against Suriname.

Significantly, Jamaica has not defeated Costa Rica in the teams’ last eight meetings – with the last win a 1-0 success in a friendly in September 2010.

There was a 1-0 home win for Costa Rica in the last collision in a friendly in 2019. Furthermore, there were two more wins and five draws since Jamaica’s last triumph.

Six Recent Clean Sheets  For Costa Rica

Another key point is that Costa Rica has kept six cleans sheets in its run of eight games without defeat against this opponent.

Costa Rica is one of Central America’s most powerful soccer nations and it reached a World Cup quarterfinal in 2014.

But its form heading into this Gold Cup had been well below standard.

The team had failed to win in 13 matches with a record of six defeats and five draws.

There had, furthermore, been no win since a 2-1 success against Curacao in the CONCACAF Nations League in November 2019.

Certainly, then, the 3-1 win against Guadeloupe in the opening Group C game was a boost to the team’s self-belief.

Despite this, there was a scare in the second fixture when unfancied Suriname took a 52nd-minute lead.

The Costa Ricans – under new coach Luis Fernandez Suarez – replied shortly to put things right with Joel Campbell of Liga MX outfit Monterrey scoring in the 58th minute.

Then, Celso Borges of Spain’s Deportivo La Coruna added a second a minute later. For both players, it was their second goal of the tournament.

Jamaica’s squad is the strongest it has been for some time.

Bobby Reid was among the scorers in Jamaica’s opening 2-0 defeat of Suriname.

The team, which was a Gold Cup semifinalist in 2019, includes $40 million-rated striker Leon Bailey of Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and the pairing of forward Bobby Decordova Reid and defender Michael Hector from English Championship team Fulham.

Reid was among the scorers in the opening 2-0 defeat of Suriname.

Shock Moment Against Guadeloupe

There was subsequently a shock against Guadeloupe when the opponent took the lead thanks to an own goal after only four minutes from Jamaica’s Luton Town defender Amari’i Bell.

The stronger side recovered, however, with an equalizer from Cory Burke of MLS outfit Philadelphia Union after 14 minutes.

Even so, the Jamaicans had to wait until the 87th minute for their winner which came from Junior Flemmings of USL Championship team Birmingham Legion.

To sum up, then, neither of these sides has hit truly top form yet so an all-square outcome is likely.

Pick: Draw +230
