Top level soccer returns in Denmark this week following the example of neighbouring Germany in staging matches behind-closed-doors amid the coronavirus crisis.

The Danish Superliga was suspended on March 9 with FC Midtjylland leading by 12 points from second-placed FC Copenhagen.

The first fixture after the resumption of action will be on Thursday when Aarhus meet Randers in a game postponed earlier in the season in Round 21.

These two teams have played 23 matches – one less than the remainder of the 14-team league.

A full set of seven Round 25 fixtures will then follow between Friday and Tuesday.

Pick 1: Aarhus vs Randers

Aarhus in third-place and seventh-placed Randers are both part of a tight group of five parked up behind the leading pair and separated by only six points.

That makes this game at 1.00 pm EST on Thursday an instantly important fixture to both sides.

Aarhus are priced as +128 favorites with Randers at +193. The draw is +235 and although the form book may not count for much after a break of two-and-half months, this looks to offer good value.

In the most recent match before the shut-down, Aarhus were beaten 2-1 by current bottom club Silkeborg. That followed a 0-0 draw against another struggling side, 12th-placed Hobro.

Randers were also beaten in their most recent match although the 2-0 setback came against leaders Midtyjylland.

There have been six home wins for Aarhus with two draws and three defeats.

That followed a three-game unbeaten run in which they won 3-0 at home against 13th-placed Esbjerg then drew 0-0 at home with Odense. There was then a 2-1 win away against Horsens.

There have been six home wins for Aarhus with two draws and three defeats. They have scored 20 times on their home patch and conceded 12 goals.

Meanwhile, Randers have won only three times on their travels while drawing once and losing seven times. They have hit the net 15 times in these games while conceding 20 times.

In total, Aarhus have won twice, lost once and drawn once since the league’s re-start in late February following the mid-winter break.

Their full record stands at 12 wins, four draws and seven defeats with 37 goals scored and 25 conceded.

Randers have won 10 times while drawing four and losing nine. They have scored 37 times and conceded 31.

In an attempt to create atmosphere, Aarhus have erected a string of giant digital screens which will show fans at home watching the game via the Zoom remote meeting platform.

Pick: Draw +235

Pick 2: Esbjerg vs Aalborg

Aalborg travel to meet Esbjerg at 12:00 pm EST on Sunday and look good value for a win at +104. The home side are priced at +240 with the draw at +216.

Aalborg are in sixth place and have won three of their most recent four games – with the last result before the shut-down a comprehensive 3-0 home defeat of Lyngby.

Meanwhile, Esbjerg are in 13th place and have won just four of their last 24 matches in all competitions.

Aalborg have the fourth best record away from home in the league with four wins, two draws and six defeats.

Their most recent SuperLiga win was a surprise 1-0 defeat of high-flying FC Copenhagen. But they then lost twice before a 1-1 draw away against fellow strugglers Hobro.

Aalborg have the fourth-best record away from home in the league with four wins, two draws and six defeats.

Esbjerg’s home form is the third-worst with three wins, three draws and six defeats on their own patch.

Pick: AaB Aalborg +104

Pick 3: Lyngby vs FC Copenhagen

Lyngby are wide outsiders at home against second-placed FC Copenhagen. But in the search for value, the price of +259 for the draw offers interest.

A win for Copenhagen at 12:00 pm EST on Monday is rated at -151 while a Lyngby victory is +346.

In eighth place, Lyngby lost their last two games before play was suspended.

But Copenhagen were defeated twice in the last four games. If form is to play a part after such a long break, it suggests they are wobbling slightly.

Lyngby have the fourth-best home record in the competition with eight wins, one draw and three defeats.

However, Copenhagen are decent on the road with six wins, one draw and five defeats.

Pick: Draw +259
