  • After a quick round of games following the international break, the EFL Championship is back again this week for their 13th Matchday out of 46
  • Twelve games are on the slate for Tuesday and Wednesday as we could see Bristol solidify their spot in third place  or move up the table when they take on fifth-place Watford
  • In addition, Millwall host Reading and Stoke City and Norwich go to battle in what could be a major shakeup to the EFL Championship table

The EFL Championship is living up to its hype once again as one of the best sports league in the world. It is unpredictable, exciting, but most of all, it is competitive. This competitiveness is something that other leagues such as the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 or Serie A can lack at times. Reading was in first place in the EFL Championship just a week ago and now sit in sixth place which goes to show how important each and every game is to these sides vying to get into the Premier League.

This week we are in for some seriously special matches that could totally change the table come Wednesday night. Top of the league Norwich City have to play Stoke City who have won two games on the bounce against Reading and Huddersfield. Meanwhile, Bristol plays Watford in a game that will surely change positioning at the top of the table. Overall, with seven teams within three points of each other, we get to watch some imperative early-season football and place some bets that have incredible value.

EFL Championship Pick 1: Millwall vs Reading

The first highlighted game on the EFL Championship match sheet has to be Millwall vs Reading. Millwall are clawing their way up the table, only four points off the top four in ninth place. However, Reading have been on an absolute downward spiral and that is putting it lightly. Veljko Paunović’s side has lost four games in a row by a combined score of 13-4, absolutely dreadful.

Reading’s offense has been superb this season with Lucas Joao and Yakou Meite combining for 11 goals and three assists already. It has been their defense letting them down, allowing 16 goals, bad enough for the worst record in the top half of the EFL Championship table. Millwall plays a nonchalant style of football and is great at protecting the lead which I why I believe they will nick one and get three points at home.

My Pick: Millwall moneyline (+115)

EFL Championship Pick 2: Stoke City vs Norwich

Norwich are already making their case to get back into the Premier League with 24 points atop the EFL Championship table. Despite both of these teams having won their past two matches, Norwich has to be the favorite here.

The Canaries’ defense looks much more organized than it was last season and they are seeing games out the boring way. In fact, four out of their last five games have stayed under 2.5 total goals, while three of those games were under 1.5 total goals. It sounds bold, but expect Norwich to see out a nice clean game and keep this match under 1.5 total goals.

My Pick: Under 1.5 total goals (+225)

EFL Championship Pick 3: Bristol vs Watford

The game I have circled for this week is definitely Bristol going head-to-head with Watford. The last time these two sides played was in 2018 when Watford smashed them 3-0 at Vicarage Road in the FA Cup. Now, these two sides are fighting for positions in the EFL Championship table. Both of these sides have not dropped a point in three games and have very similar goal differentials as well.

However, Watford’s attack is more apt to finish their chances in my opinion. With Ismaila Sarr and Joao Pedro going forward, they are pacey and dangerous. Bristol struggles to really win the possession battles and for that reason I see Watford winning this one easily and leapfrogging them in the table.

My Pick: Watford moneyline (+115)
