Aguero a Steady Producer Despite Injury Woes

Aguero has been a model of consistency during his first eight EPL seasons, tallying at least 20 goals in each of the past five seasons, earning the Premier League Golden Boot in 2014-2015 while leading the league with a career-high 26 markers.

The 31-year-old opened the season amid tempered expectations, pegged as a lengthy +700 on the EPL Golden Boot odds prior to the start of schedule, and saw his odds grow as long as +800 as recently as mid-August before making a rapid climb following last weekend’s two-goal outburst.

It will be a tall order for Aguero to maintain his early momentum over the course of this season and return to his production level of five years ago.

Durability remains an issue following a pair of injury-plagued campaigns. Aguero started in 31 contests last season despite battling a series of injuries, including a groin injury that forced him to miss six matches across all competitions. That follows a difficult 2017/2018 season, during which he misses 11 total contests while dealing with a nagging knee and rib injuries.

However, Aguero still managed to score 21 goals in each of the past two seasons, and has finished no worse than fourth among Premier League goalscorers in seven of his eight seasons in Manchester.

Healthy Kane, Salah Return to Top of Odds

Back to full strength after being limited to just 28 league appearances last season, Harry Kane is the +400 chalk to lead the league in scoring, while Mohamed Salah joins Raheem Sterling at +500.

Kane also battled through injuries that brought his fifth EPL season with Tottenham Hotspur to a premature close, connecting on just 17 goals in 28 appearances. The 26-year-old opened the new season with a two-goal performance in the Spurs’ 3-1 opening day victory over newly promoted Aston Villa but has failed to score in the club’s two disappointing outings since.

Salah has picked up where he left off last season, scoring three times over Liverpool’s first three contests, including the game-winner and insurance markers in the Reds’ 3-1 win over Arsenal last weekend.

The Egyptian superstar has now scored eight times in his past 10 EPL appearances, continuing to show the impressive form that has earned him at least of a share of the league goalscorer title in each of his two Premier League campaigns.

In addition, the 27-year-old should also benefit from his key role on a Liverpool attack that scored 89 total goals last season, and has averaged three goals per match so far this season.

Sterling Enjoying Long-Awaited Breakthrough

But while Aguero, Kane, and Salah bring impressive goalscorer credentials to the table, it is tough to overlook Sterling, who looks poised for a breakthrough in his fifth season at Manchester City.

The 24-year-old racked up a respectable 17 goals in league play last season, but has emerged as goalscoring dynamo since early March, scoring 24 goals in his past 30 appearances across all competitions.

Sterling also wasted no time making his mark this season, recording a hat trick in the Citizens’ season-opening 5-0 rout of West Ham United and following up with markers in each of the past two matches including the game-winner in City’s victory over Bournemouth.

That has contributed to his contributed to his rapid climb on the EPL Golden Boot odds, which were listed as long as +2500 as recently as July, but are unlikely to drop back to that level anytime soon.

Pick: Sterling to win EPL Golden Boot (+500)
