  • Cristiano Ronaldo’s men have finished all-square twice so far
  • France have injuries to Mbappe, Pogba and Kante
  • Unbeaten Kosovo present tough test for Czech Republic

Portugal are the defending European champions but are facing some trouble in qualifying Group B after drawing both games so far.

Although they have since added the European Nations League title to their victory at Euro 2016, they face a tough assignment when their Euro 2020 campaign resumes in Serbia at Stadion Rajko Mitic, Belgrade, on Saturday, September 7, at 2:45 pm EST.

The two teams drew in Lisbon in March and oddsmakers offer good value at +230 for another all-square outcome this time around.

Prediction: Serbia to frustrate Portugal again in a draw

Portugal is fourth in the group after two fixtures. Serbia – who have new Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic – are third after three fixtures behind leaders Ukraine and Luxembourg.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portuguese team have drawn both their opening qualifying games. The 1-1 draw with the Serbs followed a 0-0 draw in Ukraine.

Change of Coach After Thrashing

Serbia was hammered 5-0 by Ukraine in June following the draw in the Portuguese capital. It was the country’s biggest ever defeat.

There was then an immediate improvement with Lithuania beaten 4-1 in the team’s third qualifying match three days later.

But the fall-out from the thrashing by Ukraine still led to a change of coach with Ljubisa Tumbakovic replacing Mladen Krastijic.

This is Portugal’s first away match since last November because they hosted the UEFA Nations League finals in the summer rather than participate in Euros qualifying ties.

The veteran Tumbakovic steered Partizan Belgrade to six Serbian titles between 1993 and 2001 and is expected to toughen up the team defensively.

World Cup and Euros Triumph

France is top of Group H and are hoping to repeat history by adding the Euro 2020 title to their World Cup win of 2018.

They performed the same feat when they won the 1998 World Cup followed by Euro 2000.

They will be looking to make a big impact against Albania on Saturday at Stade De France, Paris at 2:45 pm EST. Their win should be routine but there is an opportunity at -124 for their depleted team to win by fewer than three goals.

Prediction: Depleted France to win 2-0. Bet Albania on the spread (+2.5, -124)

Although they suffered a surprise 2-0 qualifying defeat in Turkey in June, they followed that by defeating the minnows of Andorra 4-0.

But the team – managed by World Cup and Euros winner Didier Deschamps – will be without injured star forward Kylian Mbappe, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Chelsea’s talismanic N’Golo Kante.

Olivier Giroud of Chelsea is instead set to lead the line playing ahead of Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann.

France also hit four in their two opening qualifying games – beating Moldova 4-1 away and Iceland 4-0 at home.

The Albanians have won twice and lost twice in their four qualifiers and sit fourth in the group.

They lost 2-0 to Turkey before defeating Andorra 3-0. They then lost 1-0 in Iceland before a 2-0 home win against Moldova.

Winners at Euro 2016

France were 2-0 winners when they met Albania in a group game in Marseille at the finals of Euro 2016.

Kosovo and Czech Republic look a promising price for a draw at +215 at Stadium Fadil Vokkri, Pristina, at 9:00 am EST.

Prediction: Unbeaten Kosovo to earn a point (draw)

It is the first-ever meeting of the two nations.

The Czechs are second in Group A behind England with Kosovo in third.

Although they are among Europe’s minor football nations, the Kosovans have enjoyed an encouraging qualifying campaign so far. In fact, they have not lost in eight competitive internationals since October 2017.

Unbeaten in qualifying so far, they opened with a 1-1 draw with Bulgaria in March. That was followed by a 1-1 draw at home against Montenegro in June.

Czech Republic suffered a 5-0 hammering by England at Wembley in March in their opening qualifying fixture.

They then produced a surprise by winning 3-2 in Bulgaria.

Czech Republic suffered a 5-0 hammering by England at Wembley in March in their opening qualifying fixture.

But they recovered to win 2-1 at home against Bulgaria and then defeated Montenegro 3-0, also at home.

However, they have lost four of their last six away matches while winning twice.

They have not drawn in 20 matches but the sheer length of that run means it must come to an end soon. And Kosovo has proven themselves among the more capable small nations.

They won their UEFA Nations League group last year above Azerbaijan, Faroe Islands and Malta.
