  • This Sunday at 9:00 am EST, Everton will host Manchester United at Goodison Park in what will be a crucial game in the fight for European competition.
  • Currently, Manchester United sit only five points above the Toffees and face the threat of moving drastically down the table if they drop points in Liverpool.
  • Get the odds, analysis and best bet for this weekend’s match below

Manchester United and Everton have not had the most impressive seasons to say the least. At 41 and 36 points respectively, their arch-rival Liverpool is literally lapping them in the campaign. However, with Manchester City’s Champions League sanctions, fifth place is going to be good enough to qualify for Europe’s top competition.

The Red Devils are currently in pole position sitting one point above Tottenham Hotspur. However, the Toffees are still lurking in 11th place, and could have been even close if it was not for a defensive shambles against Arsenal on Sunday. New addition Bruno Fernandes will surely help United’s attack, but with Dominic Calvert-Lewin on peak form, do they have the defense to stop him?

Everton Thriving Under Ancelloti

Everton recently, have been on much-improved form since the arrival of Carlo Ancelloti from Naples. Their only defeat in the last six was this past Sunday, and they have gained valuable wins over Brighton, Watford and Crystal Palace. Calvert-Lewin has transformed himself into a goal machine, and Richarlson is finally seeming to live up to his astounding worth as the two have combined for 22 goals and four assists this season.

Despite their offense firing on all cylinders lately, their defense has let in eight over four. In the end of a season, that just is not good enough if you want to secure a spot in the Champions League. Especially with the amount of other teams vying for the same spot, week-in, week-out.

Bruno to Carry United to Victory?

Manchester United, on the other hand, have also been steadily improving; an improvement that could save Ole Gunnar Solskjær his job with his former club. They have won four from six, and Anthony Martial looks to be dangerous scoring four goals in the same run of fixtures. Even without star forward Marcus Rashford, the Mancs are pushing fellow defenses with the creativity of the Portuguese Fernandes, and home-grown prospect Mason Greenwood.

The last time these two faced, the game finished deadlocked at 1-1 at Old Trafford. Everton would probably settle for a point again while Manchester United will definitely look to be more pressing and aggressive. There will definitely be some goals scored, and the fans know both defenses are not the best in the world and are apt to make some mistakes.

Best Bet

The best bet for this match is to place your faith in a draw, with neither side getting the edge at odds of +225, which is probably the most valuable bet on the table. Expect a few mistakes from each side, but the score to end deadlocked just like the reverse fixture in Manchester. It will be at Goodison and the Toffees will carry their team onto a point against one of their North-West England rivals.

My Pick: Draw (+225)
