FC Dallas Eager to Return to Action

After COVID-19 plagued their club, FC Dallas was forced to bow out of the tournament in Orlando and watch from afar as the rest of the MLS battled it out. They’re a team that has enough quality within their squad to have made a mark in the MLS is Back Tournament. After five months away from the pitch, Luchi Gonzalez’s side will be hungry for a convincing victory on home soil against Nashville.

They got off to an impressive start at the beginning of the season back in March before it was postponed due to the pandemic, winning their first game against Philadelphia, then drawing Montreal 2-2 thanks to a late equalizer from Ricardo Pepi. Zdenek Ondrasek bagged two goals in as many appearances and will be looking to continue his brilliance in the final third for Dallas. With a bevy of young talent ready to prove themselves as well, this is a team that could be one to watch in the Western Conference as the season gets started.

Nashville Still Looking for First Victory

Joining Inter Miami as the other brand new franchise to join Major League Soccer, they were also forced to withdraw in Orlando because of positive cases. What looked to be a chance to prove themselves to the rest of the league suddenly turned into a disappointing string of events that sent them home packing. But, on a positive note, they will be one of the first teams to take the pitch in the condensed MLS season as they head to Texas on Wednesday.

Nashville is yet to secure three points after losing their first two fixtures back in March. Atlanta United beat them 2-1 on opening day, then Portland also defeated Nashville the following week by a score of 1-0. Both were respectable results though, considering the quality of their opponents. Former FC Dallas Center-Back Walker Zimmerman has inked a long-term deal with Nashville and coincidentally enough, he was the one to score their lone goal a number of months ago. Needless to say, the expansion side will be eager to grab their first-ever win in the MLS on Wednesday.

Best Bet

Dallas looked very good before the season came to a halt. They have a fundamentally sound squad from front to back and one could only think they’re going to continue their solid form in the restart. Nashville is very unpredictable because no one really knows much about them to this point. Portland and Atlanta were two very tough opponents and they actually showed quite well against them. However, with Dallas playing at home, I do believe they will grab three points on Wednesday, winning by two goals while keeping the visitors scoreless.

Pick: Dallas -1.5 (+175)
