Surprise Triumph Against Juventus

Porto is in the quarterfinals after stunning Italian giants Juventus in the previous round. But they are viewed as the outsiders of the last eight.

The spread offer is the +150 available for Chelsea to win by two goals (Asian Handicap -1). But at +250, the draw looks the most promising option here given Chelsea’s recent struggle to find the net.

Firstly, they were 1-0 first leg winners in Bucharest, Romania. Subsequently, Chelsea won 2-0 in the second leg in London.

Porto is hoping to reach the semifinals for the first time since 2003-2004 when they won the trophy.

Chelsea was top in the group stage under former coach Frank Lampard.

Certainly, that was the triumph that earned coach Jose Mourinho his big break as coach of Chelsea, whom he joined the following season.

Previously, Porto were also winners in 1986-87. Chelsea has won the competition once under coach Roberto Di Matteo in 2011-12.

They were last in the semifinals in 2013-14 when they were eliminated by Atletico Madrid.

This season, Chelsea was top in the group stage under former coach Lampard.

But it wasn’t enough to save his job after, they subsequently suffered a run of only two wins in eight league games.

Tuchel’s German Connection

Further, it was believed that Tuchel could coax the best out of two of last summer’s major signings, his fellow Germans Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.

Until the shock defeat by WBA, the new coach was credited with tightening up Chelsea’s defense.

Conversely, goals had proven hard to come by with only four scored in the five EPL games before the WBA fixture.

In the group stage, Chelsea was undefeated as they finished ahead of the second-placed Sevilla.

They won four times and drew twice while scoring 14 goals and conceding only twice.

Porto finished second in their group behind Manchester City.

Their results included an impressive 4-0 away win against Sevilla in the stadium where they will meet Porto on Wednesday.

Porto finished second in their group behind Manchester City.

They won four times and drew once with their only defeat a 3-1 setback in the opening game at City.

Porto will be without two key players through suspension.

Iranian international striker, Mehdi Taremi, has hit 15 goals for the club this season but is banned along with the influential Portuguese international midfielder, Sergio Oliviera, who has hit 19 goals in this campaign.

However, Malian striker Moussa Marega is available after scoring 10 times this season.

Porto has kept only two clean sheets in their last 12 games.

But last weekend’s 2-1 defeat of Santa Clara was their fourth successive league victory.

Six Goals for Giroud

Chelsea’s leading scorer in this season’s UCL is the veteran Frenchman, Olivier Giroud, who has six goals.

These teams have met eight times before with five wins for Chelsea, two for Porto and one draw.

In their last collision in the 2014-15 UCL group stage, Porto were 2-1 home winners before a 2-0 win for Chelsea in the return game.

However, this time around, Porto’s determined work ethic and Chelsea’s struggles up front could well produce a draw.

Pick: Draw +250
