Juventus will attempt to re-ignite its troubled season when it visits Lazio in Italy’s Serie A on Saturday.

The return of its hugely successful manager Max Allegri has emphatically failed to live up to expectations for Juve, the team known in its homeland as The Old Lady.

It sits in an unfamiliar eighth place after a dreadful start to the campaign and, subsequently, a run of only one win in the last four league games.

Furthermore, a defeat at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome at noon ET this weekend could see it fall a potential 17 points behind current leaders Napoli.

This would certainly end all hopes of somehow clambering into the title race.

Lazio Unbeaten in Last Three Games

Lazio, meanwhile, is in better shape in fifth place. Moreover, it is undefeated in its last three fixtures – winning twice and drawing once.

Despite the contrast in form, the oddsmakers at DraftKings rate Juventus as the favorite for an away win at +135.

A home win for Lazio is encouragingly priced at +205. The draw, meanwhile, is at +240.

Allegri won five straight league titles for Juventus between 2014 and 2019.

However, his second spell in command had an awful start when Juventus lost twice and drew twice in its opening four fixtures.

A revival subsequently followed with four successive wins in September.

However, the team has slumped again.

After a 1-1 draw away against Inter Milan, there were two straight defeats to smaller outfits; by 2-1 at home against Sassuolo and then 2-1 at Hellas Verona.

Things finally picked up again last time out before the international break with a narrow 1-0 home win against Fiorentina – although the winner from Juan Cuadrado did not arrive until added time near the end.

Serie A Lazio vs Juventus Stats

3 Losses 4

Comparatively, Juventus has performed much better in the Champions League. It is top of its group after four straight wins.

The odds here have undoubtedly been influenced by Lazio’s historically poor record against Juventus.

Only Two Wins in 33 Meetings for Rome Club

There have been just two wins in the last 33 meetings for the Roman club. In that spell, Lazio has lost no fewer than 24 times.

Moreover, it has conceded at least once in its last 16 home games against Juventus which is its longest run in Serie A without a clean sheet in any particular fixture.

However, Lazio’s current home form under former Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri is very impressive.

Presently, it has the best record in Serie A at its HQ with five wins and one draw this season.

In that run, Lazio has hit 18 goals and conceded only six.

The away record for Juventus is, conversely, only average – with two wins, two draws and two defeats making it only the seventh-best side on the road.

Lazio’s current unbeaten run comprises a 1-0 win at home against Fiorentina and a 2-2 draw at Atalanta.

Lazio is attempting to go through the whole of the calendar year without losing at home.

Then, following that before the international break, there was a 3-0 defeat of struggling Salernitana.

Overall, Lazio is attempting to go through the whole of the calendar year without losing at home.

Against Juventus, it will be aiming to record its 17th home win of 2021 which would beat a previous best set in 1950.

However, a major blow for Lazio will be the absence of Serie A’s leading marksman Ciro Immobile with a calf injury.

He has scored 10 league goals so far. Pedro, who has scored four times, is also a doubt.

Andersen Could Supply Goals

Now, Lazio could look for goals from Felipe Andersen.

All three of Andersen’s Serie A goals in this campaign have come at home. At +650, DraftKings offers a very attractive price for the Brazilian to be the first goalscorer on Saturday.

Juventus, meanwhile, will be without veteran defender Giorgio Chiellini.

The team’s leading scorers are the Spanish international Alavaro Morata and the Argentine Paolo Dybala. Each has hit the target three times.

However, Dybala may miss out along with midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

Juventus is erratic while Lazio is very good at home

There was a 3-1 win for Juventus the last time these teams met in Turin last March.

That came following a 1-1 draw in Rome last November.

Meanwhile, Lazio sits in second place in its Europa League game but has recorded only one win – with two draws and one defeat.

To sum up, furthermore, Juventus is erratic while Lazio is very good at home. So the odds look attractive for the Roman side to record a rare victory against the Turin giants.

Pick: Lazio +205
