Leicester have been this season’s surprise team in the EPL, although Foxes fans will argue this has been coming since the arrival of Brendan Rodgers at the King Power stadium. They currently reside in third place, just two points adrift of Manchester City who themselves are six points behind leaders, Liverpool.

This weekend, Leicester entertain Unai Emery’s Arsenal team who, despite an inconsistent start to the season, are still up in fifth place on Saturday, November 9, at 12:30 pm EST. The Foxes start this one as favorites, but is there value to be had elsewhere? We’ll take a closer look.

Leicester is down as favorites with good reason. In their last two away games, the Foxes have taken six points, scored 11 goals and conceded none. They are on a hot streak – no question. They come into the game off the back of a comfortable 2-0 win at Crystal Palace and have now won five of their last six.

Striker Jamie Vardy will again lead the Leicester line and is currently in the same form that led Leicester to the EPL title in 2015/16. Having netted seven times in his last five games, it will be intriguing to see how far his and Leicester’s impressive run can take them this season.

With a squad that is bursting full of confidence and which includes England squad members, Ben Chilwell at left-back and James Maddison in the center of the midfield, this Leicester team bears more than a passing resemblance to their Class of 2016. Rodgers is also boosted by a squad that has been largely healthy and free of long-term injuries and top four is most definitely in their sights.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are in a very different place and have shown only occasional glimpses of being a team capable of top four. A midweek draw in the Europa League against Portuguese side Vitoria SC followed a 1-1 draw at the weekend against Wolves, and they have now drawn four of their last six. It is over a month since they last won a game in the EPL – a 1-0 home win over Bournemouth.

EPL Head-to-Head Stats

Leicester City
VS
Arsenal
7 / 11 Number of wins / Games played 4 / 11
2 Number of losses 2
2 Number of draws 5
27 Goals scored 16
8 Goals conceded 15
151 / 51 Total shots / Shots on target 142 / 52
9-0 (vs Southampton) Biggest win 3-2 (vs Villa)
2-1 (vs Liverpool) Heaviest loss 3-1 (vs Liverpool)

For Emery, it is very much a case of him still looking to find a settled started XI that can churn out some wins – the exact opposite of Rodgers who has found a winning formula and is sticking with it – but the stats show the Gunners have in fact had as many shots on target as Leicester. Well worth noting.

Personnel issues have plagued Emery this season, with Mesut Ozil, who started in the 1-1 draw with Wolves, struggling for form and captain Granit Xhaka having a well-publicized falling-out with the Gunners’ fans after a 2-2 home draw with Palace.

Xhaka looks unlikely to feature in the Leicester game but full-back Hector Bellerin is edging back to full fitness and could be in contention for his first EPL start since January.

Everything here points to a home win and if the Foxes get an early goal, Arsenal’s fragility could be quickly exposed, but there are some quality players in this Arsenal squad and if they were to get their noses ahead, then it could be the confidence boost they need.

The Gunners proved in their 5-5 draw (they lost on penalties) against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup that they still have creativity and goals in them, and I see the value here very much with the draw, and possibly in a 2-2 stalemate.

My pick: Leicester and Arsenal to draw (+258)
