With just four matchdays left, it remains tight at the top of the Liga MX table, with just four points separating Leon and Cruz Azul in first and second spot. This is the first part of the league’s two-portion season, with the second stage beginning in the winter. The fight for a top-four finish also remains exciting, with just six points separating top spot and fourth place.

Odds taken October 13 at DraftKings

Pick 1: Pumas UNAM vs Toluca

Pumas come into this clash against Toluca having lost just once all year, however, they’ve also drawn six times. Andres Lillini’s side hasn’t won in three matches though, having drawn their last two then losing to Leon on Matchday 11. Pumas are still in top-four contention, just two points shy of Club America who hold fourth spot. Striker Juan Ignacio Dinenno has led the way up top for Pumas, scoring eight times already.

Toluca has won just once in their last five appearances, but on a positive note, they did beat second-place Cruz Azul last weekend, 2-0. Currently in 10th place, Toluca will head into this fixture against Pumas with a boatload of confidence after beating one of the top sides in Liga MX. Alexis Canelo has been lethal in the final third for his team, bagging five goals in just eight matches.

The last meeting between these two sides resulted in a 3-2 victory for Pumas back in mid-February. But, I believe Toluca is going to come out on top here after a huge win on Matchday 13. The visitors will come away with a one-goal win on Sunday.

Pick: Toluca +340

Pick 2: Cruz Azul vs Tigres UANL

Cruz Azul will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing defeat to Toluca last matchday, but they will have their hands full with an in-form Tigres side. Azul has lost just once though in their last five matches, and have yet to suffer a defeat on home soil this term. Striker Jonathan Rodriguez has been the class of Liga MX, netting a league-best ten goals.

Tigres also have a top-notch frontman in Frenchman Andre-Pierre Gignac, who has nine goals to his name. Ricardo Ferretti’s men have been on a tear as of late, going unbeaten in their last seven fixtures, while keeping their opponents scoreless in their last four games. They’ve also been deadly in the final third, bagging nine goals during that span.

I like Tigres here. A win would put them well in the top four. The last meeting between these two resulted in a 2-1 victory for Cruz Azul, but I do believe the visitors will pull out three points here and continue their torrid form, winning by a goal.

Pick: Tigres +210

Pick 3: Club Leon vs Club America

League leaders Leon welcome third-place Club America to Estadio Victoria next Monday evening. The hosts come into this match having lost just once all season and have grabbed the full three points in each of their last four matches.

Leon is a very tactical side, having completed an average of 500 passes per game, which is the most in Liga MX. They haven’t scored a ton of goals, but Ignacio Ambriz’s squad have conceded just eight times in 13 fixtures, while receiving contributions on the attack from several different players, with Angel Mena leading his squad with six goals.

Club America also comes into this clash in decent form, going 2-3-0 in their last five. America grabbed a point last time out in a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Pumas, despite holding the majority of the possession. Gustavo Matosas’ side have been arguably the most busy team in the league in front of goal, registering a Liga MX-best 5.6 shots on target per match.

This could be the most entertaining fixture of Matchday 14, with two sides going toe to toe that have a lot to play for. Leon wants to stay at the top, while Club America need a positive result to stay in the top four. Leon has yet to lose at home this term, but America have also played well on the road. But, I believe the hosts will play a fundamentally sound match from front to back, keeping the visitors off the scoresheet and winning by two goals.

Pick: Club Leon -115
