Bayern Munich will attempt to continue their storming march towards glory in the Champions League when they meet Lyon in the semifinal in Lisbon on Wednesday.

Despite Lyon’s surprise success, the analysts at Draftkings make Bayern huge favorites for the last four tie at – 455. The French side are massive outsiders at +1100, with the draw after 90 minutes at +575.

Munich Favored For Trophy

Munich are favorites to win the competition at -182 ahead of Paris St Germain, who are priced at +250 and meet Red Bull Leipzig in the other semifinal in Lisbon on Tuesday.

Since the re-start following the Coronavirus crisis, Bayern have been in rampant form and landed both the German Bundesliga title and the nation’s DFB-Pokal Cup before the Champions League re-commenced.

Even so, the humiliation of Barcelona stunned soccer and plunged the Spanish club into turmoil.

It made Bayern the first team in UCL history to score eight goals in a knockout match while Barcelona had not conceded eight goals since 1946.

The  German outfit scored 100 goals in their Bundesliga triumph while hitting 24 goals in the UCL group stage and 15 more in the knockout phase.

Bayern have now won their last 19 matches in all  competitions as their ferociously potent attack has made its power known in extraordinary style.

The  German outfit scored 100 goals in their Bundesliga triumph while hitting 24 goals in the UCL group stage and 15 more in the knockout phase.

Thomas Muller scored twice in the humbling of Barca while there was another goal for Polish sensation Robert Lewandowski, which took his tally in this season’s UCL to 14 goals and to 54 in all competitions this season.

Serge Gnabry,  Ivan Perisic and Joshua Kimmich also scored while Phillipe Coutinho – on loan at Bayern from Barcelona  – added two more for the Germans late on.

The warning that Bayern were in this mood came in the preceding round six days earlier.

Holding a 3-0 lead over Chelsea from the first leg of their UCL Round of 16 tie, they wiped out the Londoners 4-1 in the return meeting in Bavaria on August 8.

Lyon Seventh in Ligue 1

By contrast, Lyon had finished only seventh after France’s Ligue 1 wound up amid the Coronavirus crisis.

They have played no league football since March 8 and had progressed to the UCL’s last eight despite a 2-1 defeat by Juventus on August 7 – having won 1-0 at home in the Round of 16 first leg in March to go through on away goals.

But they crushed City coach Pep Guardiola’s hopes of winning the competition for the first time since 2011.

Lyon were hailed for their determined and muscular approach which stifled City’s normal creativity  although City coach Guardiola also came under fire for being uncharacteristically cautious tactically.

They took the lead through Maxwel Cornet before an equalizer from Kevin De Bruyne. Moussa Dembele then seized the victory for the French team with two late strikes.

Bayern and Lyon last met in the UCL in the semifinals in April, 2010 when the Germans won 1-0 at home in the first leg. They then wrapped things up with a 3-0 victory in France.

In total, Bayern have beaten Lyon on four occasions with two wins for the French outfit and two draws.

Munich have a 100% record in nine matches in this season’s competition while Lyon lost twice in the group stage and once in the last 16.

Pick: Bayern Munich +155 (Asian Handicap -2.5 +155)
