On Wednesday, Old Trafford plays host to a massive top six matchup with major European implications involving Manchester United and Sheffield. Fifth place Manchester United are looking to bounce back after an away draw in North London against Spurs, while Sheffield will be looking to find any run of good form.

After a draw against Aston Villa, and a drubbing at the hands of Newcastle on Sunday, Chris Wilder’s side looks like a different team compared to before the restart. Despite the prowess of Joelington and Allan Saint-Maximin, the Blades will have some more challenging offensive threats on Wednesday including the likes of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and of course, Frenchman Paul Pogba.

Watch Out for the Bruno, Pogba Link-Up

In just six Premier League games since coming over from Sporting CP, Bruno Fernandes has won six Man of the Match award for the Red Devils. Along with three goals and three assists, the Portuguese midfielder has shown his deluxe playmaking ability. Despite only allowing 28 goals so far, Sheffield will have their hands full.

This problem only becomes heightened when the likelihood of Paul Pogba starting increases. The former Juventus midfielder came on as a sub against Tottenham and did enough to win a penalty for his side that gave Manchester a point to go home with. The idea of the two playing together for a full 90 is quite frightening, especially with an even healthier Marcus Rashford.

Expect Sheffield to Finally Grab a Goal

Despite being held to a clean sheet in their first two matches of the restart, expect Sheffield United to score against a porous Manchester United defense. Maguire and de Gea were both at fault for the lonely Bergwijn goal last week, and expect more mistakes from the pairing during the midweek. Sheffield talents such as newcomer Sander Berge and Ollie McBurnie will be licking their lips, having scored three against Manchester United in their reverse fixture at Bramall Lane.

That particular match ended in a 3-3 draw, involving six goalscorers. Despite being at home, Manchester United will have no advantages, as Sheffield has only lost three away matches all season. Furthermore, the Mancs have dropped points in nearly half of their games at Old Trafford this season. With that being said, do not expect Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s team to just walk away in victory.

Best Bet

Finally, the best bet for this match is the total to be over 2 1/2 goals, with odds of +100. While Manchester United should win against a struggling Blades side, Chris Wilder has been successful at making great teams suffer this year. Ignoring the difference in talent, the game should be loaded with goals. Given the class of players like Rashford, Pogba and Fernandes along with Sheffield being due for some goals, do not expect this one to be a snoozer. The match might not finish 3-3 like last time, but, expect a lot of entertaining finishes on Wednesday.

My Pick: Over 2 1/2, (+100)
