Chicago Fire vs Philadelphia Union Prediction

Bottom of the East Chicago hosts third place Philadelphia at 8:00 pm EST in MLS Week 10 on Saturday.

It will be the second meeting of the season between them already, as the Union claimed a 2-0 road win back on May 8.

Both sides played in midweek and it was another dissapointing result for Raphael Wickey’s team. Chicago fell 1-0 to Cincinnati on Wednesday, another team who had just a single win heading into the match. Chicago had just two shots on target compared for the 12 for Cincinnati.

Chicago is just 1-7-1 (WDL) on the season, has lost three-straight and have scored just once in their past seven matches.

That’s bad news as they come up against a Union team in strong form at 5-2-3. The Union defeated the MLS Cup champs Columbus 1-0 in midweek and are now undefeated in seven-straight MLS matches and eight overall. Outside of two goals allowed to Atlanta (one was an own goal) last weekend in a 2-2 draw, Philly has kept a clean sheet in four of five matches.

With the dreadful form the Fire are in coming into this one, it’s hard to look any other way than betting the Union. For a little extra security, you could also take Philly on the Draw No Bet market at -103.

Pick: Philadelphia Union to Win (+160)

Seattle Sounders vs Vancouver Whitecaps Prediction

Another matchup pitting two sides in completely opposite form kicks off at 9:00 pm EST Saturday night in MLS Week 10. The Sounders are tops in the West and in MLS overall at 7-3-0—the league’s only remaining undefeated team. Their offense has been productive scoring 18 goals in ten matches, but their defense has been even better in conceding only five times.

In the past week Seattle has picked up two 2-1 results, first against LAFC last weekend and then again on Wednesday against Real Salt Lake.

Meanwhile, the Whitecaps lost their fifth-straight on Wednesday, losing 2-1 to the LA Galaxy. After being down 1-0, the Caps fought back to draw level in the 92′ minute, only to suffer a heartbreaking defeat by conceding a second goal just one minute later.

It was the fourth-straight game in which Vancouver has allowed multiple goals. They’ve done so in four of five road matches this season.

The Caps’ only points thus far have come against Portland, Toronto and Montreal and all from May 8 or earlier. The Portland win came in their season opener, and both Montreal and Toronto are currently out of the playoff picture.

The possession battle in this one should be interesting. Seattle has been successful without holding much of the ball. They rank just 23rd in average possession at 46.8-percent. However, Vancouver also rarely wins the possession battle coming in at 47.2-percent.

The Caps have just eight goals on the season. Should Seattle choose to continue to sit back, it’s unlikely the Caps will have the tools necessary to break them down. And if they are the ones controlling the possession, the Sounders should be able to keep doing what they do best—counter.

Sounders to win by two or more comes in at +108 odds. While the Sounders at -1.25 provides some insurance if they only win by one.

Pick: Seattle -1.25 (-122)

FC Dallas vs New England Revolution Prediction

MLS Week 10 concludes on Sunday night at 9:00 pm EST when the West’s bottom team, FC Dallas, hosts the East’s top team, the New England Revolution.

Dallas has just one win on the year at 1-4-4. While they have not particularly been good either home or away, their main struggles have come away from Toyota Stadium where they are 0-0-4 with one goal scored compared to nine allowed. On their home pitch, they may only have one win, but they are also undefeated at 1-4-0, to go with eight goals scored and just five conceded.

Dallas has been alternating draws and losses at home and away for each of their past six and that trend continued with a 2-0 away loss to LAFC on Wednesday.

The story is quite different for Bruce Arena’s Revolution who extended their winning streak to five and undefeated streak to six, with Wednesday 3-2 win over the New York Red Bulls. They’ve scored three goals on three occasions during this winning streak and with 17 goals on the year, rank third behind only SKC (20) and Seattle (18).

Given the form of both sides I can’t bet on New England losing this match. However, Dallas has been competitive on their own pitch. New England on the Draw No Bet, or even a straight draw should be in play.

Pick: New England Draw No Bet (-109)
