New York Red Bulls vs Inter Miami Prediction

With playoff hopes fading, ninth-place New York hosts 11th place Miami at 6:00 pm EST Saturday evening.

These teams met once earlier this season, just last month in what resulted in a 4-0 Red Bulls win in Miami. It was 2-0 at the half, however, Miami did take a red card just 38 minutes into the match so played much of the game a man down.

New York may be finding form at the right time as they try to make a playoff push. The Red Bulls are undefeated in five matches with three wins. They won 1-0 on the road to Cincinnati last weekend. The past four Red Bulls’ games have gone Under the 2.5 total.

In their past 12 matches, New York has actually only scored multiple goals once. And that came in the aforementioned earlier 4-0 win. They’ve allowed multiple goals just once in their past nine.

When it comes to Miami they’ve now lost four straight after a 1-0 road loss to Portland last Sunday, their second straight 1-0 loss. They’ve lost four straight and have scored just once in those four defeats. In their past eight games, they’ve scored just four total goals and the Under has gone 6-2.

At 16-11 to the Under on the year, the Red Bulls have cashed the most Under bets for bettors this season. Miami isn’t far behind at 15-12 to the Under.

Pick: Under 2.5 Goals (-105)

FC Cincinnati vs Philadelphia Union Prediction

The league’s bottom side, Cincinnati, hosts the East’s third-place team Philadelphia at 8:00 pm EST Saturday night. If Cincinnati loses or draw with Philly, they will officially be eliminated from playoff contention—something that has been evident for weeks.

These teams have yet to meet this season but will play twice this month.

Cincinnati is stumbling to the finish line of the 2021 MLS campaign. Not even a coaching shake-up could change the on-field result last week as they lost their fifth straight in a 1-0 loss to the Red Bulls. They’ve been outscored 14-5 in those defeats and have just one win in 18 matches while being 1-0-8 in their past nine.

The Union had been languishing but ever since their CCL loss to Club America, they’ve been undefeated in MLS. They’re 3-1-0 since and have outscored their opponents 8-2. Last Sunday they routed the Columbus Crew 3-0 at home despite taking a red card in the 64′ minute. They were up 2-0 at the time and still managed to add a third.

Despite allowing a horrendous 52 goals on the season, better than only Toronto FC, Cincinnati has kept things tight at home. Only 14 of those 52 have come in their home matches. They’ve only allowed multiple goals at home once in their past eight. Only once all season have they lost by multiple goals.

The Union on the road is a similar beast. They’ve scored multiple goals away from home just three times in 12 road outings. None of those have come in their past seven. Only once, back in May have they defeated a team on the road by more than one goal.

On paper, this looks simple. And Philly should win. But it may be closer than it appears. I’d back the Under (+105) or a Philly win.

Pick: Philadelphia to Win (+140)

Seattle Sounders vs Vancouver Whitecaps Prediction

Seattle owns the top spot in the West, two points above second-place SKC. While Vancouver is knocking on the playoff door, just one point back of seventh-place Minnesota. Both are in good form when they meet Saturday night at 9:00 pm EST. Seattle has a chance to clinch a playoff spot with a win or draw.

It was a 2-2 draw back in June when the teams met in Seattle.

The Sounders jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead over Colorado last Sunday and never looked back. It was their third win in a row. Outside of a Leagues Cup Final loss, Seattle has only lost twice in their past 11 MLS matches. Their offense is heating up with eight goals in their past three wins.

The Whitecaps have been one of the league’s hottest teams for weeks. They started the season slow so are sort of under the radar, but Vanni Sartini’s team has just a single loss in their past 15. They’re 7-7-1 in those 15, collecting the second-most points in MLS during that stretch. Only three teams have collected more points than Vancouver in the past ten rounds.

The Whitecaps haven’t allowed multiple goals since a 2-2 draw with Minnesota back on July 31. In the following 11 matches, they’ve conceded only seven total goals. Last weekend’s 3-0 home win over San Jose was the first time they’d scored multiple goals in four rounds though.

This one could be tight and fall Under the total.

Pick: Under 2.5 Goals (-110)

Minnesota United vs Colorado Rapids Prediction

The standalone Sunday match sees a Western showdown between seventh-place Minnesota and third-place Colorado at 4:00 pm EST.

The Rapids have taken both earlier meetings this season. First 3-2 and then 2-0, both at home. In Minnesota, historically the Loons are 4-0-1 over the Rapids at Allianz Field.

The Loons got good news on Friday that key playmaker Emanuel Reynoso who picked up a late red card last weekend in their 0-0 draw with FC Dallas will be eligible to play. This, as the Independent Review Panel, overturned his red card.

Minnesota has been strong at home with an 8-2-3 record. They’ve lost just once at home in their past 11. But goals have come at a premium at Allianz. Minnesota has scored 17 goals in 13 home matches while conceding just seven. Home Unders for the Loons are 9-4 on the year.

Colorado fell 3-0 to the Sounders on Sunday. That snapped a 12-match undefeated streak. It was just their second loss in 18.

Neither of these teams put many shots on target. They both rank tied in 19th overall with 109 shots on target.

Colorado’s strong overall form, mixed with Minnesota’s home-field advantage, looks like a match where the two sides could cancel each other out.

Pick: Draw (+255)
