When looking at the above odds be sure to consider that four teams played midweek in the CONCACAF Champions League when deciding on the pros and cons of betting on these teams.

New York City FC advanced on away goals against CSD Comunicaciones on Tuesday. On Wednesday New England was eliminated on penalties versus Pumas while Montreal drew with Cruz Azul to be eliminated over the two legs. Thursday, the Sounders drew 1-1 with Leon but advanced 4-1 on aggregate.

New York Red Bulls vs Columbus Crew Prediction

Two of the hottest teams in MLS so far meet in the Eastern Conference in MLS Week 4 at 2:00 pm EST Sunday afternoon.

Only Austin with ten goals scored has scored more goals after three weeks than Columbus (9) and New York (7). The two sit atop the expected goals (xG) stats as well at 7.5 and 6.3 respectively. Third in xG is Philly at 5.6. Shots on goal stats also favor both teams with the Red Bulls ranking first in MLS with 23 and the Crew second with 20.

Last year the teams met three times. New York won 1-0 at home, followed by a 2-1 Crew win in Ohio and then another Red Bulls win, 2-1 on the road in the final meeting.

Each team has players that are off to hot starts offensively. Lucas Zelarayan leads the Golden Boot race with four goals and two assists, while Crew teammate Derick Etienne has two goals and two assists himself.

For New York, Lewis Morgan sits at 3G/1A and Patrick Klimala has 1G/3A.

Expecting both teams to contribute at least once to the scoresheet seems likely.

Pick: Both Teams to Score (-130)

Austin FC vs Seattle Sounders Prediction

I’m going right back to this bet on goals in Austin games for another week, even after it fell through in Week 3. After 5-0 and 5-1 home wins to start the season, I was banking on another high-scoring affair in Week 3. However, that match came on the road. somewhere the Austin offense seems to go to die. A 1-0 loss in Portland was the result and even that goal didn’t come until the 62′ minute. In fact the one goals was the only shot on target for either team.

But in MLS Week 4, the Verde and Black are back at Q2 Stadium and will host the Seattle Sounders. The Sounders are coming off a draw in the CCL on Thursday. In MLS play, Seattle has a 1-0 win, 1-0 loss and a 3-2 win at home to the LA Galaxy last week.

Seattle is not always a fast-starting team. And striker Raul Ruidiaz is still out.

So this bet is more focused on Austin. Last season at home Austin was 7-2-8 (WDL), scoring 27 and conceding 25. While on the road they were 2-2-13, scoring just eight goals and allowing 31.

The higher-scoring home match trend seems to be continuing this season so I see a few goals and goals from each side in this one. Both to score and over 2.5 can be had at +120 odds but even both to score at -140 isn’t a terrible price.

Pick: Both Teams to Score (-140)

MLS Week 4 Parlay Bet

Here’s a two-teamer to consider as a parlay bet for this weekend in MLS Week 4.

Charlotte FC vs New England Revolution Prediction

This match pits expansion side Charlotte at home to Supporters’ Shield winners New England. The +110 odds for the Revs win just looks like a gift. New England is the much more talented and experienced team.

Charlotte has started their life in MLS with 3-0, 1-0 and 2-1 defeats. It’s not a great start but it’s not terrible. 1-0 to Chicharito and the Galaxy isn’t so bad, in front of a record-breaking crowd. 2-1 to Atlanta last week, when the winning goal came in the 96′ minute, is also impressive.

New England is only 1-1-1 themselves after last week’s 3-2 loss to RSL. Still they should win this one.

However, the one big question mark is the fatigue and possible squad rotation Bruce Arena may employ after going down to Mexico on Wednesday night to face Pumas in CCL. That’s only a little over two days for a turnaround and this early season match against Charlotte is likely hardly on their radar. I can’t pick a Charlotte win, but instead New England on the ‘double chance’ (win or draw) market at -325 odds.

Toronto FC vs DC United Prediction

Both teams scored in 68-percent of TFC’s games last season and in 62-percent of DC’s.

In the early goings of this season, the trend is continuing for Toronto with goals going in for both teams in all three of their matches. A 1-1 draw, 4-1 loss and 2-1 loss last week.

DC opened with a 3-0 home win over newcomers Charlotte, won 1-0 away to Cincinnati with a 98′ minute PK goal and lost at home 2-0 to Chicago last week.

So while neither side has looked too impressive so far, fireworks usually ensue when they meet up. Last year DC won 3-1 and 7-1, with the teams drawing 2-2 in both meetings during 2020. I can see goals coming from both sides in this one (-185). Toronto’s defense is poor, but at home in Canada, they should be able to find the scoresheet as well.

Parlay Bet: New England – double chance and Toronto vs DC – both to score (+101)
