It was a disappointing year for Norwich City in the Premier League last season, finishing dead last and heading back down to the Sky Bet Championship. But, they’re currently one of the heavy favorites to actually win it all. Watford and Bournemouth, who also joined Norwich in relegation, are amongst the top five to capture the title.
Brentford, who lost in the Championship playoff last season, is also in the running. League newcomers Coventry City, Wycombe Wanderers, and Rotherham United, are all heavily favored to be relegated after being promoted from League One.

Norwich Looking to Return to Premier League
The Canaries were dominant two years ago in the Championship before their return to England’s top-flight, winning the title and losing just six times, while bagging 93 goals in just 46 matches. But, it was a tough return to the Premier League, as they finished in 20th place and after just a year, find themselves back in the second division.
They’ve added some depth to their squad with numerous defenders such as Xavi Quintilla from Villarreal and Oliver Skipp from Tottenham to make up for the loss of left-back Jamal Lewis, who completed a move to Newcastle. Norwich has also given star striker Teemu Pukki some more support upfront, bringing in former West Ham attacker Jordan Hugill on loan. It was a productive transfer window for Daniel Farke’s side as they look to make their mark in the Championship this term.
Watford and Brentford Are Sides to Watch
The Hornets put forward a gutsy performance on the last matchday of the Premier League season, losing 3-2 to Arsenal as they tried to steer clear of relegation. Unfortunately, this will be their first time in the Championship since the 2014/15 campaign.
Troy Deeney has voiced he wants to leave the club as he sees himself as a top-flight player, but the signing of Glen Murray from Brighton will certainly add some firepower for Watford in the final third. Winger Gerard Deulofeu is set to return to the first-team next week, while Deeney could still be apart of the squad despite his desire to move on. If they do have two veteran strikers in Murray and the aforementioned partnered up top, it’s going to be an electric duo.
Brentford just missed out on promotion to the Premier League, losing to Fulham in the playoff final. Nonetheless, the Bees enjoyed a solid year, finishing in third place while conceding just 38 goals in 46 fixtures. Algerian winger Said Benrahma has been scouted by numerous clubs across England, but the Brentford star who netted 17 times last season, looks to be staying put. Ollie Watkins is set to complete a move to Aston Villa, which will be a huge loss for Thomas Frank’s squad, as he scored 26 goals last term.
Odds Against Wycombe, Sheffield Wednesday, and Rotherham United
It was a cinderella story that Wycombe were even able to see a promotion from League One for the first time in club history. Unfortunately, they have odds against them for actually staying up in the Championship this term.
Sheffield Wednesday had a tough campaign last season, finishing in the 16th spot. They haven’t made any notable moves in the transfer window and seem like a team that could be on their way down to the third division sooner rather than later.
As for Rotherham, they were disappointing in 2018/19 before their relegation. Although the Millers will be eager to stay in the Championship, I don’t see them standing much of a chance against quality sides who frankly just have a lot more talent.
Best Bets
As for promotion, I believe Watford, Brentford, and Norwich City will move up to the Premier League. They’ve all had strong transfer windows to bolster their squads which in return, will help them find positive results throughout the course of the season.
Relegation wise, Wycombe, Rotherham, and Sheffield Wednesday are currently the best bets to go down. A lot can change once the campaign actually begins and we see how each side is playing, but as of right now, these are the best bets.
As for the title, I like Norwich City as the winners. Their productive summer will pay off, led by Teemu Pukki who will enjoy another goal-filled season.
