Olympiakos and Bayern Munich have only met on two previous occasions. Drawn together in the 2015-16 Champions League group stage, the two teams played home and away in Group F. Bayern completely dominated the matches, winning 4-0 in Munich and cruising to a 3-0 victory in Greece.

The Bundesliga outfit were eventually knocked out in the semifinal, while Olympiakos dropped into the Europa League and fell to Anderlecht in the round of 32.

Bayern Strong Favorites

Bayern are the overwhelming favorites for this clash, having won their opening two Champions League group matches. The 7-2 win away to Tottenham flattered the Bavarian side, but they are expected to secure qualification over this double-header with Olympiakos.

Niko Kovac’s side have had a mixed start to the Bundesliga campaign, currently sitting third. A home defeat to Hoffenheim before the international break was a major shock. Facing struggling Augsburg at the weekend before flying to Greece, this is a great opportunity for the five-time European champions to get back into their stride.

It’s a new era for Die Roten. Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben have departed and there are rumors Thomas Muller could follow them out the door. The new team is loaded with talent, though, and the front four of Robert Lewandowski, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and Philippe Coutinho can blow any defense away.

Top of the Greek Super League, Olympiakos are fancied to land a 45th domestic crown this season after finishing second last season. They are looking to make it to the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time since 2013/14 and just the fourth time this century.

After securing a draw at home to Spurs on Matchday 1, the Athens-based club missed an opportunity to put themselves in real contention. The loss to Red Star Belgrade on Matchday 2 puts Pedro Martins’ team in a difficult position with back-to-back matches against Bayern. Avoiding defeat at Karaiskakis Stadium on Tuesday is vital.

Bayern to Win Comfortably?

There will be a hostile atmosphere to welcome Bayern. A deafening noise and red smoke filling the stadium is to be expected. An early goal for the hosts could make it a difficult evening for Kovac’s men.

Bayern’s superior talent should quickly shine through if they can start solidly, however. Olympiakos will pose a threat on the break – Bayern’s defense hasn’t been faultless this season – but the Bundesliga side’s attack should have way too much.

Victory will put the German champions within touching distance of qualification. This should be a comfortable win for the visitors, who might have the three points sewn up by half-time.

Pick: Over 3 goals at -120
