  • Paris Saint-Germain host Marseille in Ligue 1 competition at 3:00 pm EST on Sunday
  • PSG sit atop Ligue 1 with 24 points, while Marseille are back in fourth with 16 points
  • The hosts are the favorites in this one at -417

One of the key matches in Ligue 1 this weekend is Paris Saint-Germain versus Marseille at the Parc des Princes in Paris.

The fixture features two out of the fop four teams in Ligue 1, and obviously one of the best and most talented teams on-paper in world football with Paris Saint-Germain. PSG will feel the pressure to win as well with Nantes trailing in second place only five points behind them. A bad result for Thomas Tuchel’s men, and a win for Nantes against Monaco, could heat up the title race in France.

Regardless, PSG are the odds-on favorites to win the match by quite a large margin.

PSG Currently in Scoring Frenzy

In the past six results for both teams, PSG have won all but one in a loss at home to Reims. In this mix, they have compiled some impressive wins over Angers in Ligue 1 and Galatasaray in the Champions League. Their goal total has also been stunning, having scored 13 goals across their last three matches. They have been aided with the addition of Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan who has been on an absolute tear with five goals in six games for the Parisians.

On the other side, Marseille have been somewhat struggling, going 2-3-1 against the likes of Monaco, Montpellier, Dijon, Rennes, Amiens, and Strasbourg. While their position in the Ligue 1 table is impressive, and most know that PSG is very capable of a slip-up at any time, history points to Kylian Mbappe and his side coming out on top.

In the last two contests between these two sides, PSG won 3-1 and 2-0 respectively, with the former Golden Boy award winner netting three of those five goals.

Best Bet

The best bet for this match would be PSG to win outright. Given the recent history between the two sides, and their current form, it is hard to believe that Thomas Tuchel will fail to lead his team to victory at home. His attacking options, with the likes of Mbappe, Neymar and Icardi are too plentiful, and too merciless, to imagine a struggling Marseille team will stop them.

Not to mention the Parisians have netted at least four goals in their last three games, while only allowing one. It seems as though they have figured their defense out early, and it is not a good sign for Andre Villas-Boas. Overall, there is just too much going against this Marseille team to see them coming close to victory here. Even after a midweek Champions League game, betting PSG to win by at least two goals should be a lock for this weekend in Ligue 1.

Pick: PSG -1.5, -2 (-115)
