So far, Milan remains pointless. But, conversely, it has twice been on the brink of winning in this season’s competition.

It took a surprise 2-1 half-time lead at Liverpool in its opening game before going down 3-2.

Following that, there was even more frustration. The Italians took a 20th minute lead against Atletico at the San Siro through Rafael Leao.

However, the game was turned on its head when, firstly, Antione Griezmann leveled after 84 minutes.

Then, subsequently, the Spaniards turned the screw painfully by claiming all three points thanks to a Luis Suarez penalty scored seven minutes into added time.

After a 3-2 win for Porto in Italy, there was secondly a 1-1 draw in Portugal.

The Portuguese outfit – twice winner of the European Cup/ UCL – has not exited at the group stage since 2015-16. But it needs a win this week to maintain hope of preserving that record.

Milan’s Seven-Season Absence

Seven-times winner Milan is back in the competition for the first time in seven seasons and faces an even tougher job if it is to confirm its resurgence by advancing to the knockout rounds.

Surely, Porto will be boosted by the fact that it had won its previous eight home matches at the Estadio Do Dragao before the hammering by Liverpool.

Against that, Milan has not suffered consecutive away defeats in Europe since 2012.

But it will emphatically have to improve its defensive discipline in Europe after twice letting slip important leads.

It racked up its fourth straight Serie A victory last weekend with a 3-2 home comeback defeat of Hellas Verona.

The team’s joint leading scorers are Leao and Spaniard Braham Diaz who each have three goals in Serie A and one in the UCL.

The Italian side has scored at least twice in three of its last four away games

Diaz, however, will be absent this week due to illness.

The Italian side has scored at least twice in three of its last four away games so it will be hopeful of making a breakthrough in Portugal.

Meanwhile, Porto has won its last three Portuguese league fixtures – with a 2-1 win at home against Pacos de Ferreira last time out. That was followed by a 5-0 defeat of third-tier club Sintrense in the League Cup last Friday.

Now the team must further soothe the wounds inflicted by Jurgen Klopp’s rampant Liverpool side.

Top Scorer Diaz Has Hit Six

Midfielder Luis Diaz is the top scorer with six goals in the Primeira Liga.

Certainly, however, Porto is also going to have to improve its defending in Europe.

And with only one goal in its two UCL fixtures so far, Porto must additionally find an extra edge up front.

In conclusion, both teams need to make an impact in this game but also have a lot to lose. So, it will be tight with the draw the most likely prospect in store.

Pick: Draw +235
