Chelsea vs Leicester City Prediction

In a repeat of Saturday’s FA Cup, which was won 1-0 by Leicester, the Foxes again come face to face with Chelsea in what is a crucial battle in the quest for a place in next season’s Champions League. Leicester will of course be buoyed by having lifted the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history, and celebrations will have been curtailed as a result of having this vital game in the schedule just three days hence, but equally, Chelsea will be stung and know that a win here takes them above Leicester and into third with one to play.

Both managers will look to make a few changes to keep their teams fresh but Chelsea has greater strength in depth – particularly useful as they have the small matter of a Champions League final against Manchester City upcoming on May 29. Thomas Tuchel will also have learned one or two lessons from Saturday’s defeat and it is hard to see past a home win here.

For Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers, a Champions League place will be almost as treasured as the FA Cup win, but the emotional toll of winning on such a big stage on Saturday still fresh, this is a massive task for the Foxes.

Pick: Chelsea to win (-143)

Burnley vs Liverpool Prediction

Liverpool’s dramatic win at West Brom on Sunday, where goalkeeper Alisson Becker scored a last-minute winner with a header, has kept their hopes of a Champions League place alive. With the minutes ticking away at the Hawthorns and with the Reds seemingly unable to find a second goal against a stubborn West Brom defense, Alisson was encouraged by the Liverpool bench to go up for a 95th-minute corner. And then, from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s beautifully flighted delivery, Alisson rose the highest to glance a perfect header into the West Brom net.

The lift that goal has given the Reds is immeasurable and with Chelsea and Leicester playing each other, that win has put Liverpool’s fate effectively in their own hands. Jurgen Klopp and his men now know that a win here and another against Crystal Palace at the weekend will guarantee them Champions League soccer next season – something that looked almost impossible a few weeks ago.

And with Burney on an awful run of home form – they have not won in their last nine at Turf Moor – it really is hard to see Liverpool slipping up, especially with Mo Salah on a fine scoring streak and closing in on the EPL’s Golden Boot. The Reds are odds-on, but to make it a more worthwhile bet, consider also Salah as the first goalscorer.

Pick: Liverpool to win (-375) / Salah to score the first goal (+260)

West Bromwich Albion vs West Ham United Prediction

West Brom’s Premier League fate has been sealed for several weeks now and they will be playing Championship soccer next season. The Baggies, however, look determined to end the season strongly, as they showed against Liverpool on Sunday, and but for Alisson’s heroics, they would have earned a deserved point. This makes them a dangerous opponent for West Ham who themselves have reached the must-win stage of the season.

The Hammers have an outside chance of making it into next season’s Champions League but did themselves no favors at the weekend when they were only able to draw 1-1 with Brighton – a result that leaves them needing two wins from their final two games and hoping other results to go their way.

Given how well West Brom played against Liverpool, I can see them making life difficult for the Hammers, who have struggled to manage the pressure of closing in on a Champions League place. Therefore, do not be surprised to see the Baggies finish off a disappointing campaign with a flourish and earn themselves a narrow home win.

Picks: West Brom to win (-182)
