As ever, the Bundesliga is more than capable of throwing up surprise results and, as such, offers plenty of value for the bettors. So we’ll take a look and see if we can identify some good bets for this fixture.

Leipzig Pushing Bayern All the Way

RB are hot on the heels of leaders Bayern and what looked like being a good season for them has turned into a great one, giving them a genuine chance of winning the Bundesliga title for the first time in its short history.

They are also in great form and produced their best performance of the season so far last weekend when thrashing Schalke 5-0 in Gelsenkirchen. This made it two wins on the bounce – they beat Werder Bremen 3-0 one week earlier – and resurrected their title chances after having previously suffered a mini-wobble with a three-game winless run.

Title Charge in Full Swing

Their title charge is now in full swing and they sit just a single point behind leaders Bayern, with a slightly inferior goal difference. They also have, in Timo Werner, a goalscorer of the highest quality who scored his 21st goal of the season in the Schalke game. Such is his hot streak, if Werner is on the pitch then RB always have a chance of winning.

Leipzig have lost just three league matches all season and are also set for a place in the last eight of the Champions League, having won 1-0 away in Tottenham in the first leg of their round-of-32 tie. What they will be desperate to do is avoid any slip-ups in the league that will give Bayern the edge as the season enters its final straight.

Leverkusen Also in Title Hunt

While RB has only won one more game than Leverkusen, the key to their success has been the number of goals they have scored: 61 compared to 40 by Die Werkself. But Sunday’s visitors are themselves enjoying a good season and 13 wins from their 23 league games is a fine return. They are only five points behind RB and are, as it stands, themselves only two wins adrift of Bayern.

In Timo Werner, RB Leipzig have a goalscorer of the highest quality who scored his 21st goal of the season in the Schalke 04 game.

It’s shaping up to be a thrilling run-in to this Bundesliga season, with the two Borussias, Dortmund and Monchengladbach, also in the mix. The four Champions League places are currently being fought over by five teams, with one of them going to be disappointed with the consolation prize of Europa League qualification.

Leverkusen are well in the hunt and are one of the league’s form teams, with six wins and just two defeats from their last eight games. Last time out they beat FC Augsburg to make it three wins on the spin – a mini-run that included a thrilling 4-3 home win over BVB.

The Draw in Play with Two Evenly Matched Teams

So, it’s on the line at the Red Bull Arena, with both teams knowing defeat could seriously hinder their hopes of either winning the title and/or making the top four. The other three teams in the title race will watch with interest, knowing something has to give in Leipzig on Sunday.

For me, this brings the draw into play as neither will want to come away from the game with nothing. As a result, there looks to be value in the +380 on offer for the tie but worth noting is that Leverkusen hasn’t kept a clean sheet in seven. Therefore, you should consider the 1-1 or the 2-2, both of which will pay significantly more than the +380.

The bookies think it’s a nailed-on home win but I’m sticking with the draw, partly because this result (in Leipzig) is a well overdue one – there has never been a draw between them at the Red Bull Arena – but also because the game in Leverkusen earlier in the campaign ended 1-1. They’re two very well matched teams.

Pick: RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen to draw (+380)
