Real Madrid vs Barcelona Over/Under and Spread

Real Madrid vs Barcelona Preview

Real needed penalties to overcome Valencia on Wednesday after producing a lukewarm performance in semifinal 1. On a difficult night, they went ahead through Karim Benzema’s 39th-minute spot kick but Valencia equalized just a minute into the second period through Samuel Lino.

Extra-time produced no more goals, so it was via a penalty shoot-out that Los Blancos made it to the final, with Benzema, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Marco Asensio successfully converting while Valencia missed twice.

Los Blancos Looking for Second El Clasico Win of the Season

It’s a busy month for Real, who are still competing in four major competitions. In the Copa Del Rey, they next face Villarreal in the round-of-16 on January 19, and then in February, they face Liverpool over two legs in the last 16 of the Champions League.

But, while the Supercopa de Espana is not at the top of their list of priorities, any game against Barca is massive, and they have already beaten their biggest rivals once this season – a 3-1 win at the Santiago Bernabeu back in October.

Pens Needed for Xavi’s Men in Semi

Like Real, Barca also needed penalties to get to this final after their game with Real Betis ended 2-2 after extra time. The Catalans led twice in the game, firstly through Robert Lewandowski in the 40th minute and then through Ansu Fati three minutes into extra time, but twice Betis were able to respond.

In a tense penalty shoot-out, Xavi’s side eventually emerged 4-2 winners and so qualified for the final for a record 25th time – 13 of which they have emerged as winners.

Barca Unbeaten Since October

Barca, like Real, have more important competitions ahead but, also like Real, never want to come second-best to their biggest rivals. They too have a Copa Del Rey round-of-16 tie upcoming against Ceuta and, while they are no longer in this season’s Champions League, they have a massive clash with Manchester United to come in the Europa League.

Barca warmed up nicely for this Super Cup tournament with an important 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid that maintained their lead at the top of La Liga, and it’s worth noting they haven’t lost a game in any competition since the end of October.

Real Madrid vs BarcelonaTeam Lineups and Injuries

Real Madrid Projected Lineup: Courtois, Carvajal, Nacho, Rudiger, Mendy, Kroos, Valverde, Modric, Rodrygo, Benzema, Vinicius.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona Prediction

This will be tight as the odds suggest with little to choose between these two. So tight in fact that, for me, the value lies in the juicy +230 on offer for the tie after 90 minutes. If I had to pick a winner, I’d have to say Barca, given their winning mentality right now, but this will be close.

Picks: Real Madrid vs Barcelona to draw (+230)
