Over/Under and Spread

Caesars have listed over 3.5 goals in plus money at +115; the flip side being that under 3.5 goals is at a not-very-tempting -145. With these two teams having already scored 15 goals between them, the plus-money bet offers some value.

Real Madrid vs Real Betis Prediction

It’s been a blistering start to the season from Carlo Ancelotti’s men. After winning the UEFA Super Cup with a victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, they opened their La Liga campaign with three straight wins, starting with a narrow 2-1 victory over Almeria on the opening weekend. This was followed by a more emphatic 4-1 away win over Celta Vigo.

Last weekend, Los Blancos recorded their third successive away win in beating Espanyol 3-1, although it was nothing like as comfortable as it sounds with Karim Benzema not scoring their second goal until the 88th minute and the third a full ten minutes into injury-time.

Real Madrid Defending the ‘Double’

A big season awaits Ancelotti’s team as they look to defend their La Liga and Champions League titles, with their European campaign starting next week with a tricky-looking trip to Glasgow to play Celtic. They will be hoping to head there off the back of their fourth successive La Liga victory.

Interestingly, Real Madrid’s recent record against Betis at the Bernabeu isn’t good and they haven’t beat them there since March 2017- the last three games ended goalless, and in 2017-18 and 2018-19 they were Betis wins.

Flying Start for Betis!

The Green and Whites have also enjoyed a flying start to the campaign. After having a mixed pre-season, they opened their La Liga campaign with a resounding 3-0 home before traveling to Mallorca five days later and narrowly winning  2-1.

Game 3 proved to be an even tougher challenge for Betis when Osasuna were their visitors at the weekend. Borja Iglesias gave the home team a 34th-minute lead with a brilliant strike but they were unable to add to it and things got tricky when German Pezzalla was sent off for a horror tackle on 73 minutes. Despite playing the last 17 minutes plus injury-time with ten men, they managed to hang on for the win.

Points to Be Had at the Bernabeau

Betis finished fifth in last season’s La Liga – their best finish since 2004-05 – and won the Copa Del Rey, and in doing so earned themselves a place in this season’s Europa League. As a result, like Madrid, they begin their European campaign next week and head off to play HJK Helsinki.

But their immediate priority is to get something from this trip to the Bernabeau. If they can continue their early-season form, they have a chance of doing so.

Real Madrid vs Real BetisTeam Lineups and Injuries

Los Blancos Projected Lineup: Courtois, Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Mendy, Kroos, Tchouameni, Modric, Valverde, Benzema, Vinicius.

Los Blancos Injuries: Vallejo, Nacho.

Betis Projected Lineup: Silva, Ruibal, Felipe, Gonzalez, Moreno, Rodriguez, Carvalho, Canales, Fekir, Juanmi, Iglesias.

Betis Injuries: Bravo, Jose, Montoya.

Real Madrid vs Real Betis Pick

This will be closer than the odds suggest and Betis will see this as a chance to pick up points. Whether their defense is good enough to withstand Real Madrid’s star-studded attack remains to be seen, but the fact they have only conceded once this season is a good sign.

There is no value in betting on the home win, but given the start Betis have made, let’s not rule out the draw where +390 does offer some.

Pick: Real Madrid and Real Betis to draw (+390)
