It’s Serbia vs Switzerland on Friday, December 2 in the final round of Group G fixtures in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It all kicks off in Stadium 974 at 2pm ET.

Despite Serbia currently sitting bottom of the group, a win will most likely be enough to see them qualify for the round of 16. For second-placed Switzerland, a draw will probably be enough to progress.

We preview Serbia vs Switzerland, look at the World Cup odds, and offer some analysis, team news, and picks below.

Over/Under and Spread

DraftKings have pitched over 2.5 goals in plus money +105, while the under is is odds on at -130. Given that these two have scored just four goals between them so far, the bookies are justified in not expecting a goal-fest.

Serbia vs Switzerland Preview

It’s been a disappointing campaign so far for Serbia but a win here and they will probably be heading to the last 16. Only an unlikely win for Cameroon over Brazil will deny them if they are able to get three points, but it will be difficult against an unspectacular but resilient Switzerland team.

In their opening game against Brazil, the Eagles were big underdogs but played well for over an hour and made life difficult for their South American opponents. In the end, they succumbed to a late double strike from Richarlison.

Six-Goal Thriller But Only a Point for Serbia

Game 2 was a far more topsy-turvy affair for the Serbs, who came from a goal down to roar into a 3-1 halftime lead with goals from Pavlovic, Milinkovic-Savic, and Mitrovic. Unfortunately for them, they were unable to hold on and two goals in the space of three second-half minutes from the Indomitable Lions saw the game end 3-3.

A Point May Be Enough for the Swiss

Switzerland’s excellent 1-0 win over Cameroon on opening day has put them in pole position to join Brazil as the qualifiers from Group G but there is still work to be done.

While the draw here will probably be enough to take them through – assuming the Cameroonian miracle against Brazil doesn’t happen – they will likely consider that a high-risk approach and will be going for the win.

Goal-Shy Switzerland

The Swiss’ problem however has been scoring goals and so far, all they have to show for their efforts is a single goal – the one scored by Embolo in the Cameroon game. They drew a blank in Game 2 against Brazil when they were narrowly beaten by Casemiro’s thunderous 83rd-minute strike.

Serbia vs Switzerland Prediction

This one really is on a knife edge and there is a strong argument for all three possible outcomes. But while the Swiss come into this off the back of a defeat, their performance level was good and I get the feeling, with the pressure on, their extra top-level quality will shine through.

I expect it to be tight though, and probably low-scoring.

Picks: Switzerland to win (+185) / Under 2.5 goals (-125)
