Spread across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Matchday 31 of the 2019-20 Serie A season isn’t as exciting as it seemed like it would be when the campaign resumed. Juventus, who face AC Milan, are far clear atop the table with their challengers, Lazio and Inter, falling off the pace. Atalanta are comfortable in the final Champions League spot.

At the other end of the table, relegation looks almost certain for two teams, leaving one spot to be decided. It’s a big week for Torino, who are sliding towards the bottom three, but they face 19th-placed Brescia, who they are heavily favored to beat.

The table below shows the odds for Matchday 31 followed by three picks.

Odds taken July 6th

Pick 1: Napoli to Cover vs Genoa

One of the few matches where both teams have something to play for, Genoa are fighting for their Serie A lives and Napoli are looking to secure a top six spot with an in-form AC Milan pursuing them. Napoli are without Diego Demme and Kalidou Koulibaly on Wednesday, but they have more than capable deputies.

Lorenzo Insigne’s late winner at the weekend has put them level on points with Roma. Their form in 2020 has been very strong, with eight wins from their last 10 Serie A outings.

This is a squad that had loftier ambitions when the season began – they were outperformed by Atalanta, Inter and Lazio, but they are well-equipped to continue this good run through the remaining matches.

Genoa turned it around to snatch a draw against Udinese in their last match, and have proven to be difficult to break down at times. They are big underdogs here, though, and stand little chance of resisting this Napoli attack.

Pick: Napoli -1 (-111)

Pick 2: Take Torino ML

Given their league position, it would be an exaggeration to call this must win for Torino. It would still be a major shock if they get relegated, but with Inter to come in their next match, this is an important opportunity to halt their slide. It’s three losses on the bounce for the Turin-based club, leaving them only six points away from the bottom three.

Brescia need a miracle to survive, though their shock win over Verona last time out will have given them a smidgen of hope. It was their first victory since mid-December, however, and they have been short on quality to really compete in Serie A for much of this season.

Torino have lost nine of 11 and they will be low on confidence after shipping four goals to Juventus, but they should have enough to see off Brescia.

Pick: Torino Moneyline (-172)

Pick 3: AS Roma a Good Bet vs Parma

Hopes of forcing their way into the top four are long gone for Roma. Retaining a European place at all is now a concern for the club from the capital. If results go against them this week, they could be down in seventh after this round of fixtures and eighth-placed Bologna could pull to within three points if they defeat Sassuolo and Roma lose to Parma.

Parma are perhaps an ideal opponent. Roma’s 2020 has been poor, but Parma are in the irrelevance of mid-table and have lost three in a row. No threat of relegation and far off the top six, the visitors could cruise to the end of the season. Roma are boosted by the return of Nicolo Zaniolo, too.

With their form having been so patchy this year, the -1, -1.5 spread doesn’t appeal. Two out of form teams can often make for a tricky match to predict – Roma to win at -222 is probably the best bet, though some will be tempted by the draw.

Pick: Roma Moneyline (-222)
