Three Serie A matches kick-off on Wednesday, September 30th to make up for games missed in game week one. Antonio Conte’s Inter faces Benevento and are unsurprisingly heavy favorites to claim all three points.

Udinese host Spezia, one of Serie A’s relegation favorites, while Atalanta and Lazio matchup in what is arguably the most exciting matchup of the first few weeks of this campaign.

The table below has the latest odds for all three matches.

Benevento vs Inter

Benevento suffered a humiliating relegation in their last Serie A season, failing to reach the 30-point mark and losing their first 14 matches. They got off to a brighter start this time around, beating Sampdoria 3-2 in a phenomenal comeback win. There’s a sense of positivity around the Serie B champions, and Milan legend Filippo Inzaghi has drawn widespread praise for his work – he will be desperate to get something against Inter, a team he was fierce rivals with for the majority of his playing career.

Benevento aren’t the only comeback kings at this early stage. Inter staged their own remarkable turnaround, snatching three points against Fiorentina despite being 3-2 down with five minutes to play. Conte will want better defensive performances than that, but I Nerazzurri have the attacking firepower to bail out their defense on occasion. Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez look set to stay together despite Barcelona’s interest in acquiring Martinez – they are as prolific as any strike partnership in Europe.

Given the goals that flew in at both ends for these two teams in their opening matches, the ‘Over’ has to be the best bet.

Pick: Over 3.5 total goals (+143)

Udinese vs Spezia

Both Udinese and Spezia lost their opening matches. Spezia’s first-ever Serie A contest ended in a 4-1 defeat to Sassuolo, while Udinese fell 1-0 to Hellas Verona. Udinese are looking to break out of mid-table obscurity after several seasons in the bottom half – a home clash with Spezia should be a good opportunity to kickstart their season.

Spezia are one of the favorites to get relegated this season. They were outclassed by Sassuolo, and with tough fixtures to come, could really do with a result at Dacia Arena on Wednesday. Spezia boss Vincenzo Italiano is dealing with a bit of an injury crisis at the moment, though they will have Giulio Maggiore and captain Claudio Terzi back from suspension. Their performance against Sassuolo will not give bettors much confidence ahead of this one, but it’s too early to read anything into performances, particularly with the minimal pre-season.

Udinese were the third-lowest scoring team in Italy’s top flight last term. They are not going to blow Spezia away like Sassuolo did, but they have sufficient quality to grind out a win. The hosts to win to nil looks the best bet in Udine.

Pick: Udinese to win to nil (+150)

Lazio vs Atalanta

Lazio and Atalanta both got off to winning starts to the 2020-21 season as they look to take the next step after challenging for the title in 2019-20. These two sides will be looking to push Juventus and Inter this season, and Wednesday’s matchup in the capital gives them an opportunity to gain an early advantage on a direct rival. A draw would not be a disaster for either side, but it’s not in Atalanta’s identity to play negatively.

These were two of the most potent attacking teams in the country last season. Atalanta commits men forward and play fearless, free-flowing football, while Lazio boasts one of the best numbers nines on the planet in Ciro Immobile.

Their last meeting saw Lazio take an early 2-0 lead before an Atalanta comeback to win 3-2. Goals are to be expected again. It’s a question of the Over 3.5 at -110 or Over 4 at +155. With the uncertainty of early-season football, I’d lean towards the safer Pver 3.5 bet.

Pick: Over 3.5 total goals (-110)
