  • On Sunday, July 26th, Swansea host Brentford at the Liberty Stadium in Wales, kicking off the first leg of the Championship Playoff
  • Leeds United and West Brom have already been promoted to the English top-flight, while Brentford, Swansea, Cardiff and Fulham will fight for the last spot
  • Currently, the favorites in the match are Brentford with moneyline odds of +120

As English soccer comes to a close for the 2019/2020 season, one England tradition is just starting, the Championship Playoffs. Two teams have already been promoted from the Championship to Premier League for next year. Meanwhile, Swansea and Brentford will play a two-leg match to see who makes it to the playoff final. The first leg in Swansea will be played on Sunday and looks to be a cracking game as both teams have been on some good form.

Obviously, there is a lot at stake which makes this game a must-win for both sides. Swansea are the underdogs by a margin probably understated in the odds. However, forwards Rhian Brewster and Andre Ayew can score from pretty much anywhere on the pitch, making this game all the more interesting and fun for both the players and spectators at home.

Can Brentford Spark Life Into Their Offense?

Brentford are the sure-fire favorites to win the Championship Playoff. They are the highest-ranking team out of the four teams, and have scored a bewildering 80 goals this season; this is a mark that nobody has beaten in the Championship. Not to mention Brentford have won two out of the last three matches against the Swans.

However, Brentford have closed their regular season off with two disappointing losses to Stoke and Barnsley, only managing one goal from both matches. Star players Ollie Watkins, Bryan Mbeumo, and Said Benrahma have combined for 75 goal contributions this season in the Championship. But the question is, will they be able to get back to winning ways away from home this Sunday?

Can Youngster Rhian Brewster Spur Swansea On?

Since being loaned to Swansea from Liverpool, Rhian Brewster has looked like he is on another level. The young English strike force has ten goals in only 19 appearances and scored an absolute worldie from deep in Swansea’s last match against Reading. Swansea might not have the best odds to win this game, but expect Brewster to come out with all of the tricks and flicks to try and get on Jurgen Klopp’s highlight reel in preparation for next season.

Best Bet

The best bet for this match is the Brentford moneyline at +120. This bet has tremendous value, and Swansea’s defense just looks too porous to keep Brentford out of the net. Swansea has some good talent on their team, but it just does not look to be enough for this match. It is more likely to see Brentford be challenged in the final than to see a quick semifinal exit. With that being said, the last three times these teams have played, at least three goals were scored in all of them. The ‘Over’ on total goals is not the best bet on the table but is a great secondary choice as well.

My Pick: Brentford moneyline (+120)
