Midtjylland vs Celtic Prediction

Celtic disappointed in 2020-21, and this season has not got off to a good start. Failing to beat Midtjylland in Glasgow and putting in some uninspiring performances in their preseason friendlies, Celtic are under pressure. A change of manager is yet to bring a change in performance. Poor discipline and individual errors cost Celtic in the first leg of this tie as they failed to make their possession advantage count.

Midtjylland will be relatively confident of progressing here, and the odds reflect that. Celtic have historically been very poor on the road in continental competition. The hosts, despite losing to Odense a couple of weekends ago, have got back to winning ways with a win over Aalborg.

Under 2.5 represents decent value at -120 given how resolute Midtjylland have been defensively. They kept Aalborg at bay even with just 38% possession. The home team to win on the night is our pick, though, as Celtic still get used to the demands of Ange Postecoglou.

Pick: Midtjylland moneyline (+140)

Galatasaray vs PSV Prediction

PSV played Galatasaray off the park in the first leg. This tie is as good as over as a result, with the Dutch club holding a 5-1 advantage. It could still be a competitive match, however. These seem like reasonable odds across the board with PSV narrowly favored at +125 on the moneyline.

Galatasaray have scored goals for fun in preseason, and they need to replicate that sort of form in this match. The hosts need to score at least four times if they are to pull off a shock comeback. Fatih Terim has no choice but to be ultra-attacking from kick-off, and that will leave plenty of openings for PSV. Looking to reach the group stages for the first time in three years, PSV are under minimal pressure ahead of the second leg.

The way PSV controlled the first leg even without two of their stars in Denzel Dumfries and Donyell Malen (who is on his way to Dortmund) makes it hard to see how this is competitive. Having had over 60% possession and reducing Galatasaray to just one shot on target, another PSV win looks like the best bet, particularly as Galatasaray leave themselves exposed on the break.

Pick: PSV moneyline (+125)

Sparta Prague vs Rapid Vienna Prediction

With Rapid Vienna claiming a 2-1 win in Austria in the first leg, this tie looks beautifully poised. The Czech side are favored on the night, and they come into this match with good confidence having won their opening league match of the season at the weekend. The 3-2 triumph over Sigma Olomouc sets Sparta up nicely as they host Rapid Vienna, a side who did not enjoy such a strong start to the campaign domestically.

The Green-Whites fell 2-0 to TSV Hartberg last time out. Both teams are under immense pressure to progress here. Champions League football is a rare treat for fans of these teams, and while they would face Monaco in the next qualifying round, dropping out before then would represent a real disappointment for two teams who must have fancied their chances when they got drawn together in the second round of qualifying.

Sparta have a clean bill of health for this match, while Rapid Vienna have several notable absentees. Srdjan Grahovac is unavailable, joining Philipp Schobesberger and Dalibor Velimirovic on the sidelines. Led by the phenomenal Adam Hlozek, Sparta are the best bet for this one.

Pick: Sparta Prague moneyline (-115)
